The Daily injustice report vol. 21

* Scott Greenfield at Simple Justice writes about how Waukegan Illinois police are investigating how police responding to a panhandling complaint ended up killing an innocent man when they chased down and tasered the wrong man in a parking lot. An autopsy ruled that the 53-year-old man died from an underlying heart condition aggravated by the taser.

* A Baltimore Maryland police officer is on desk duty but hasn’t been charged while his fellow officers investigate him for shooting an unarmed man to death outside a nightclub. The off-duty cop allegedly shot his department issued firearm 13 times, hitting the man 6 times in the chest and groin after getting into a fight with the man for hitting on his girlfriend. The officer refused to answer questions or take a breath test after the shooting though he was disciplined once before over an off-duty shooting after he had been drinking.I'm sure that being investigated by ones fellow officers will result in a fair and impartial conclusion /sarcasm

* Hartford Vermont police have asked the state police to investigate how their officers, responding to a possible burglary call, ended up beating, pepperspraying, and arresting a homeowner in his own home while he was naked in his own bathroom. Police allegedly dragged him down the stairs wrapped in a blanket when his neighbor, a retired cop, tried to tell police the man they cuffed was the homeowner but they threatened to arrest him too if he kept talking.is that following policy and procedure?

* Richmond County Georgia deputies are accused of kicking and beating a 16-year-old boy at a community event. Police say the teen fell when being taken into custody for a curfew violation but the boy’s mom said it had to be more than a fall given the cuts and bruises the boy suffered.the old 'he fell down' excuse

* The Worcester Massachusetts police department released 714 pages out of the over 1500 page disciplinary record of police officer Mark Rojas after the local Telegram & Gazette took them to court. Those pages detail only four of the several complaints against the officer which include frightening allegations of domestic abuse, assault police brutality, and dishonesty. Rojas is still earning his $73,000 per year salary while he’s been on disability leave for over a year for an alleged ankle injury.714 pages for just 4 complaints?

* A Kendall County Illinois chief deputy has been formally asked to resign by a council vote after the county settled sexual harassment lawsuit filed against him for $188,000.

* A Riverside California police lieutenant may be receiving walking papers soon for driving his then-police chief home after he had wrecked his city-owned vehicle while drunk and not arresting him when he noticed the chief had been drinking.

* The San Luis Obispo County California undersheriff was arrested on drunk driving charges after an anonymous caller reported seeing a suspected drunk driver. Police aren’t saying whether the officer was on or off duty at the time of the arrest.

* The sheriff of Musselshell County Montana is under investigation by the Montana state Department of Justice on allegations of improper use of property from his department’s evidence room. No specifics about what evidence and how the property was misused have been released.

* And finally, a Galveston Texas Independent School District police officer has been indicted on record tampering and theft charges over allegations that he falsified records in order to get overtime pay for time he didn’t work.
