The Daily Mail’s war on women

The Daily Mail is a publication with a dirty history of exclusively covering women from the neck down.

The sleazy tabloid rag that employs awful hack Piers Morgan has a bizarre fascination with belittling and demeaning women by emphasizing their bodies and clothes over all else.

The Daily Mail’s approach to covering female celebrities might by symptomatic, but it’s still inexcusable. No woman, no matter how intelligent or accomplished, is immune to the British tabloid’s reductionist regimen.

It’s easy to dismiss the Daily Mail as an outdated, easily-mocked outlet catering to a niche audience of pervy old men and people with a “skimpy bikini” Google alert.

Of course, expecting feminist content from a Piers Morgan-approved publication is like expecting Hispanic voters to turn out for Donald Trump.

Morgan, who took on the position of editor-at-large at the Daily Mail back in 2014, has a history of making comments as sexist as they are stupid.

If there’s one thing Piers Morgan hates—aside from the Black Lives Matter movement—it’s women and their no good, very bad sexuality.

The misogyny is in no way hidden — semi-naked women are displayed across all its pages, labeled too fat, too thin, too old for the outfit, or, outrageously, too young.

In the Daily Mail women seduce “innocent” men, often for money, abuse their children and invite appalling violence to be perpetrated against them.

The Daily Mail woman is having trouble ‘shifting that baby weight’ or she is ‘barely containing her curves,’ depending on whether her ‘excess’ flesh is deemed repulsive or sexy.

Pippa Middleton (sister of Kate) is in possession of what the Mail refers to as ‘THAT derriere,’ while older women are told to ‘put it away.’

Women in the Daily Mail are valued as mothers (though they are rarely good enough) and sometimes as loyal wives, but they are judged mainly on age-appropriate physical presentation, and their age is always given at the top of the copy.

The other given about women, as far as the Mail is concerned, is that they hate and envy each other.

The paper likes nothing better than what it calls a “cat fight.”

It is not difficult to hear the male-gaze titillation in the vocabulary — cat fight, derriere, barely contained curves and their favorite phrase “cry rape.”

This refers to a woman (an abhorrent one, of course) who falsely accuses an innocent man of rape.

In describing the rape, abuse and denigration of women the paper slavers over the vilest details of the court cases in question.

Tom lives by this rag every day. No wonder he is like he is.

The Daily Mail (AKA Daily Fail), is a reactionary, neon-fascist tabloid rag masquerading as a "traditional values," middle-class newspaper that is, in many ways, the second-worst of the British gutter press (only Rupert Murdoch's Sun is worse).

Its weighty Sunday counterpart is the Mail on Sunday.

The Daily Mail is to the U.K. what the New York Post is to the United States, and what the Drudge Report is to the Internet: to wit, gossipy tabloid "journalism" for those who cannot digest serious news, with a flippantly wingnut editorial stance.

The Daily Mail is notable among British tabloids for rejecting the standard red-top banner in order to try to appear more upmarket and respectable, although it does sometimes go in for the full front-page picture or headline characteristic of the populist rags.

It is also notorious for its frequent harassment of individuals, campaigns of hate directed at various minorities (lately focusing on Muslims), and willfully deceiving and lying to its readers.
