Hateful rhetoric has no place in America

Kamala Harris supporters chanted “lock him up,” when the Democratic nominee told the crowd at a Michigan rally on Friday that Donald Trump should not be allowed near the White House.

She rebuked the crowd. “Here’s the thing about that. The courts are going to take care of that,” she said, referencing the Republican’s multiple criminal cases.

“We’re gonna take care of November,” she said, talking about winning the presidential election.

Harris supporters also erupted in a chorus of “Happy Birthday” for the Democratic presidential nominee, who turns 60 today.

Harris is 18 years younger than Trump. President Joe Biden, who is 81, stepped away from the presidential race earlier this year over concerns about his age.

Trump should do the same.

Confronted With Facts on Fox News, Trump Claims Ignorance

In an interview that aired today, Donald Trump defended his recent falsehoods about immigrants and the Capitol riot by claiming, implausibly, that he "did not know" or had “not heard” the truth.

Do you mean hateful rhetoric like, Trump is Hitler, he is an an existentialist threat, he has a target on his back?

Both sides are amping up the rhetoric and I will gladly confess that we on the left are getting pretty serious with it. However it is difficult when Trump uses Hitler-type language and the movement seeks to create a scapegoat to demonize to account for all their problems. The rhetoric of the Right has always been more brusque and not interested in people's feelings.

That's why there are Trump voters driving around with trucks flying the flag that says "Fuck Your Feelings. TRUMP 2024".

I am surprised that the part that calls people they don't like "vermin" and "poisoning our blood" would be sensitive to harsh words from the other side.

“Only the Vice President has consistently condemned the white supremacists and bigots who target the Jewish community, rather than dining with some of them at Mar-a-Largo,” the former lawmakers write, referring to the 2022 dinner Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump hosted at his Florida golf resort for Kanye West and Nick Fuentes.

Touting what they say has been her career-long support for Israel, the 17 former lawmakers say “she has spoken clearly about the horrors and violence of October 7th and condemned in particular the sexual violence and brutality inflicted on innocent Israelis.”

“Throughout this war, Vice President Harris has made clear that Israel has a right to defend itself, has supported delivering essential security aid to our ally and pledged to continue these policies as President,” reads the statement organized by former House members Steve Israel and Nita Lowey.
