The glitch in leftist thinking

I was having a good conversation with one of the leftists on this site that I respect and have generally enjoyed talking with in the past. However the person posted something which I think clearly reveals the glitch in leftist thinking. I think the person genuinely believes what they wrote but it's so demonstrably untrue that I'm not sure how they can hold that point of view. I dont think it's a matter of intelligence i think it's more a significant lack of self awareness or willingness to admit error. Here is what the poster wrote and I won't disclose who it is as I respect that poster too much but its this kind of thing that makes reasonable conversations here so difficult. Here it is:


"You have to remember that the Democrats do not have anything called a "DINO." We do not demand absolute loyalty. People can disagree with Biden on some things, and agree with him on others."
 
You could have been a bit more specific about what you saw wrong with whatever it is that you saw wrong with that statement.

I am not a Democrat (I am a capital "I" Independent), but I certainly do not see Democrats charging others with being Democrats In Name Only even close to how often Republicans us Republican In Name Only. That part of the statement is spot on...even if you could find a very occasional use of the term from a Democrat.

Democrats do demand absolute loyalty (to America and to its Constitution), but has never exhibited anything like the "loyalty" demanded of Republicans to Trump. The writer could have been more clear about that, but my guess is he/she was expecting people with a brain to read the comment and see it for what it was.

People CERTAINLY can agree with Joe Biden on some things and disagree with him on others.

So what is today's Yakuda bullshit actually about?

There just is not the demand that everyone think exactly the same way in the Democratic Party as there is in the Republican Party. Here is an ad I can only imagine Republicans making. Mind you, this Republican candidate is talking about killing Republicans his own party, for not being loyal enough.


Beyond that, Democrats do not have the demands of loyalty to Biden that Republicans are demanding for trump.

The Left's thinking is rigid and intolerant. A DINO gets run out of their party these days. Two perfect examples at the moment are Sinema and Manchin. Both Senators have been severely corrected by the Democrat party. Sinema was censured by the Arizona Democrat party for not going along with the party line and could face being primaried out when she next comes up for election.

That's why the Democrats don't have "DINO's". They do have dinos in the sense of old-school Leftists who have been in power for forever and are loathe to give it up even on their deathbed. Remember when Obamacare passed? The Democrats wheeled dying Robert Byrd onto the senate floor on a gurney to vote to pass it. It's why so much of their legislation gets no bipartisan support. The Democrats have ZERO interest in compromise.

Of course, the Left themselves, doesn't get this. They are insular enough that they live cocooned in an echo chamber. They are blindsided because of this each time something happens that their own internal people and polling says won't happen.

That's great point, an alliance of various opportunities. That explains why they say things in the moment regardless of how cleary incorrect it is. Only the political expediency of the moment matters. They dont want to miss the various opportunities as they arise. Sounding intelligent or being logical only slows them down. Great post!

Democrats are pretty damning of their own when they do something immoral or against the law.

And even though the Democrats are a BIG TENT PARTY, and I agree even though we have no DINO's, progressives are pretty much a huge faction, but still much less than half.

Even though our president is not progressive, he has done everything politically possible to try and tend to the needs of everyone- INCLUDING PROGRESSIVES.

Progressives don't get everything they want- just like any other political group- however, with Biden- YOU GET WHAT YOU NEED!
