The violence in Charlottesville, the murder of Heather Heyer, and the emboldened public activities of white supremacists were another stop along a dark road growing darker. Yet the climate of racial fury engendered by Trump’s rise has a direct connection to a decade of Republican efforts to gain electoral advantage. As the structures of power that created this climate continue to evolve, the Republican Party’s eventual transformation into a truly fascist and white nationalist organization will become all but inevitable.

The Radicalizing Decade

Disenfranchisement as a Solution to Demography

The article was written in 2017 and here we are. The necessary steps were not taken by the party to prevent this but the people spoke. We now must be hyper aware and diligent before this comes close to fruition. Dumping Trump is not nearly enough to stop this from completely wiping out whatever Democracy is left. Trump had way too many votes for comfort and for patriots to become complacent.

"Propaganda Has a Momentum of its Own" is very true. Fox News pushed far-right propaganda and radicalized its audience so much, that now their audience has moved to the Right of Fox. Fox is being left behind as the Right moves to Newsmax and OANN, thus proving that Fox wasn't able to control its own movement.

“When and if fascism comes to America it will not be labeled ‘made in Germany’; it will not be marked with a swastika; it will not even be called fascism; it will be called, of course, ‘Americanism.’” - NY Times, 1938.

Reminds me of the character Dr. Morbius in then sci-fi film Forbidden Planet.
