The Greatest Teams in MLB History

Mott the Hoople

Sweet Jane
Here are my five greatest teams in MLB History in order of greatness.

#1. The 1950's Yankees of Mantle, Berra and Ford
#2. The 1920's Yankees of Ruth and Gherig.
#3. The 1970's Big Red Machine of Bench, Rose and Morgan.
#4. The 1960/70's Baltimore Orioles or Palmer, Powell, Robinson and Robinson.
#5. The 1960's 3-M Giants (Maricel, Mays and McCovey).

It's unfortunate though the quality of athletes in MLB are better then ever with modern training (and drugs) but because of historical forces you don't see "Teams" of the excellence of the past. You don't see infields that played 7 years together, like the 70's Dodgers infield of Lopes, Cey, Garvey and Russel, with that kind of extraordinary chemistry.

1907 Cubs come to mind: Tinker to Evers to Chance, plus Mordecai Brown and all three of his fingers.

1917-1919 White Sox: I will just take this opportunity to say "FUCK YOU!" to Charles Comiskey and Judge Landis, as well as "Shoeless Joe and Buck Weaver for Hall of Fame!!"

Seems like these days the chemistry is actual chemistry, like steroids.
