This black woman professor gets it right:

Did you know that the Democratic Party defended slavery, started the Civil War, founded the KKK, and fought against every major civil rights act in U.S. history? Watch as Carol Swain, professor of political science at Vanderbilt University, shares the inconvenient history of the Democratic Party.

Another inconvenient truth; the Democratic Party of the Jackass has created another "slave" class. One which is addicted to Government welfare and treated as though they cannot make it without well-intentioned Democratic politicians who know what is best for them. BUT, they must stay in urban sewers run by the Party in BLUE Democratic controlled cities.

How then is it that the Democratic Party of the Jackass is now associated with racial rights?

That was not the Democrats in anything but name. they were called Dixiscrats because they went against the party on many many votes, including civil rights. When the civil rights act was passed, they returned home to the party that actually believed like they did, the Republicans. They have been there ever since.

Maybe today's democrats are only democrats in name only if that is the argument you are pinning your hopes to. Why is it so taboo to acknowledge that the negative past existed? Neither party has clean hands from day 1, and southern states were not the only states that had Jim Crow legislation.

Those early Democrats were conservatives. The party names stayed the same, but the platforms reversed. These historical ignoramuses simply don't realize that fact.

It did not progress, it split. Those bigoted people are still alive and well in new generations of Republicans.

I am sure you think Planned Parenthood isn't a eugenics program to target blacks and hispanics as well. You can rationalize it until you turn blue, but bigotry is alive and well in both parties.
