Asked about Trump in May 2016, George H. W. Bush said “I don't like him. I don't know much about him, but I know he's a blowhard. And I'm not too excited about him being leader." He also said Trump’s ego was the driving force behind his decision to run for president. George W. Bush offered similar criticism, saying “This guy doesn't know what it means to be president.” Both father and son have said they did not vote for Trump.

Yet people who identify as conservative and patriotic, who supported the Bushes and Regan, apparently see nothing wrong with having an ignorant, egotistical blowhard in the highest office - the face of America to the world. What has the Party of Lincoln come to?
 
Plenty of Trump voters didn't support either Bush and don't look favorably on Reagan. Trump represents populism more than conservatism.

Granted, the only reason much of the left suddenly likes the Bushes is that they've spoken out against Trump. They hated the Bushes when they were in office.
