The Mystery of the "Z" Symbol

I, and I think many others, was struck by the mysterious symbol in the form of the Latin letter "Z" on Russian military equipment that invaded Ukraine. To be honest, this symbol immediately evoked an ominous association with the fascist swastika for me. The war has been going on for more than half a month, and people are still guessing what Commander-in-Chief Putin means by this symbol. A certain military expert in Russian military-political journalism suggested that Z stands for Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, whom Putin intends to try as a fascist. Finally, to put an end to the uncertainty on this account, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially announced that the symbol is interpreted as "for Victory".

However, I had a vague doubt about this interpretation. Why does a patriot use the Latin "Z" instead of the Russian letter "Z", especially if it is interpreted in Russian? At first I thought that Putin had foreseen a high probability that people would certainly misunderstand, taking the letter for a number, the secret of which is immediately clear to every Russian, always ready to figure out three. But then it dawned on me, my doubts were immediately dispelled by the final chord of Beethoven's Pathetic Sonata, namely, the mysterious "Z" should be understood as the famous greeting from the times of Hitler's Germany, namely "Sieg Heil!" ("Long live Victory"). It turned out that the Ministry of Defense explained the meaning of the symbol absolutely correctly.

With this symbol, Putin seemed to have signed off on all my early comparisons of him with Hitler. (1,2)

holy shit so boring.

The letter Z is not a letter in the Russian alphabet(Cyrillic). It is however a substitute that they use for the swastika. It is referred to as a half-swastika.

When Putin was a young man, the TV show Seventeen Moments of Spring came out. Putin loved it, and decided to join the KGB because of it. This was his start.

Seventeen Moments of Spring is about a Soviet spy in Nazi Germany. They took great efforts to get the German uniforms perfect. The Germans do a good job at making stylish uniforms, and the producers of this TV series attempted to capture that. Putin dreamed of being dressed in stylish Nazi uniforms.

And now he has a half-swastika's on his tanks.

In other words, Putin is a fascist and a Nazi and his place is in the dock at the International Tribunal.
