The post-truth era

I heard this phrase for the 1st time tonight, and it really struck me. This is where we're at. There is no more apt description of the kind of world we live in right now.

We have a President-Elect who is a pathological liar. Let's all get that out there right now - I'm tired of people tapdancing around that one.

We have fake news, which millions now seem to adhere to. To get back to the President-Elect, we have a new leader who actually cites fake news as fact.

We have the "real" media, which is biased every which way. Journalism as we knew it is almost gone.

Lies are celebrated, as long as they're effective & get the job done. People who value truth are chastised for taking things "literally."

And that, truly, is what can best be described as the post-truth era.
 
funny how post-truth only gets brought up right after the public visibily loses trust in the liberal press and consumption of news from online sources and citizen blogs are at an all time high. And of course we have moves to silence all of those so the public is once again forced to rely only on the press for its opinion.

I posted about it a couple of weeks ago. This illuminating article will help you to understand the term. I would suggest that it describes perfectly how it works. I would further suggest that many things close to liberal hearts are in fact post-truths like CAGW and identity politics.

Pretty sure I heard this term a short while ago. I would have believed it the day Douchebag Donald & Crooked Hillary statistically became the inevitable party nominees.

It took Trump to get you recognize this lol?

'Hands up don't shoot', 'if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor', Hillary, too many to list, the Benghazi attack was due to an anti-Muslim video five people watched and ad nauseum.

And has been mentioned, the progressive worldview relies on lies and misinformation to exist. Look at the mess they've made of gender by denying fundamental facts of biology. You are no longer the sum of your genes but what you 'self-identity' as. [ironically, a rejection of materialism]

And that becomes 'truth'. When you reject all of that you can bemoan Trump, until then your anti-Trump partisanship is showing.

I suppose the key thing is that Trump is a proven liar and that anyone who believes him is a fool. It gives one doubts about democracy given the easy manipulation of the mugs by the crooks.

The bolded is 100% correct.

His supporters seem willing to rationalize anything about him, though. I've heard so many at this point ridicule liberals for taking Trump "literally." The other day, Darth said that if Trump threw out made-up figures, but no one could prove them wrong, they weren't a "lie."

We've really hit a new low in terms of honesty. It's really pretty sad. Or, as Trump would say, sad!

Maybe a more accurate term would be its the beginning of the Post Lies Era......that rests in the hands of our (sic)"media watchdogs".....
We've seldom ever experienced a 'truth era' to begin with....time will tell.

Then, from recent events, Wikileaks and Comey's investigation could be seen as at least a short 'truth era'....exposing the undeniable lies
and corruption that were hidden under the slime of politics.....
