There is news at the moment of President Biden visiting Ireland to look up his Irish roots, which are on his mother’s side. What about his father’s side?

William Biden was born in Sussex, England, c. 1789, and died in Maryland in 1849 (for an immigrant from England he was quite a latecomer). Joe Biden is his great great great grandson.

So will the President be visiting Sussex to look up his English roots? Nope. Why not? Some clues at this link:

Who cares? If they are citizens of the United States they're Americans, not some hyphenated something claiming some allegiance to a country they are generations removed from.

No, they're just not relevant to who I am. I was born in America. I am American. That my ancestors were mostly from Wales and Scotland is kind of meaningless. Or, do you think yours from Bumfuck Egypt are the everything about who you are?

I don't. I expect them to become Americans if they immigrate here. You on the other hand, seem to want them to retain all the values, languages, and social / cultural traits of whatever fucked up country they're from had. Why would we want to import bad cultural traits?

No, not true. I despise the Left--like you. Nothing personal. You might actually be a nice person outside of your totally fucked up politics. I have a hard time stomaching the sort that are ardent supporters of Trump too. When I'm around Leftists, particularly radical Leftists, I just figure they're being deliberately stupid beyond belief but can tolerate them otherwise. The sort on the Right and radical Right that are the polar opposite politically make me cringe. It's not so much their politics as it is their social behavior. They're also usually more openly racist than the radical Left who are equally racist only in different ways...
