Article nails it.
The convicted sex offender, you may recall, died in a prison cell in August 2019. His death was ruled a suicide. In an amazing series of coincidences, the camera recording activity on his cell block wasn’t recording that night and the guards working in his cell block fell asleep while perusing the internet rather than checking the prisoner cells, including Epstein’s, every 30 minutes.
Those guards falsified the records to indicate they had indeed been monitoring Epstein all night, a claim proven false when he was found dead at 6:30 a.m.
Epstein was awaiting trial for sex trafficking at the time and many speculated that he might have spilled the beans, embarrassing certain high-profile friends. While the ruling of suicide as his cause of death has been the subject of intense speculation, few mourn Epstein’s passing.
Why then is he back in the headlines more than six years after his death?
The answer: President Trump.
Epstein is universally viewed as satanic, a purveyor of evil. What better way for a struggling Democrat Party to sully a president enjoying success on a number of fronts than to tie him to the devil himself?
During the four years of the Biden presidency, Democrats felt no urge to demand that the so-called Epstein Files be released to the public. But once their greatest fear, a Trump return to the White House, was realized, they decided linking Mr. Trump to Epstein was a brilliant plan.
Eight years ago, Mr. Trump’s first term as president was damaged by allegations about ties to Russia, which were later proven to be a false creation of the Hillary Clinton campaign and certain members of the intelligence community. The effort to link Trump to Epstein has essentially been an attempt at Russiagate 2.0.
Why would one political party spend so much time and effort fabricating stories about an opponent rather than simply arguing for their side of the various issues facing the country?
Perhaps because they have nothing substantive to say. Look at the issues and the record.
Mr. Trump promised to lower inflation. During 2022, Joe Biden’s first full year in office, the inflation rate was 6.5%. Over his four years, consumer prices rose 21.5%, with gasoline alone rising 31%. Contrast that with May 2025, under Mr. Trump, when the Consumer Price Index showed an increase of 0.2%, or an annualized rate of 2.4%. Should the Democrats argue they want to go back to high inflation? Of course not.
Americans clearly prefer a lower inflation rate. Nothing to be argued here.
According to polling data, the second most important issue to American voters in the 2024 election was the border, with Mr. Trump promising to stem the tide of illegal immigrants crossing into the U.S. In May 2024 alone, the Biden administration allowed 62,000 illegal immigrants to enter. One year later, by simply allowing ICE and Border Patrol to enforce the existing law, the number of illegals allowed to enter America under the Trump administration was zero. Would it be an effective political argument for Democrats to demand tens of thousands of illegals be allowed in each month? Absolutely not.
This past week has seen Mr. Trump feted in the Israeli Knesset as the peace president and warmly praised by more than a dozen Arab leaders for providing the leadership to bring peace to Gaza. The entire Middle East and leaders around the globe recognized his successful effort. Even former President Bill Clinton couldn’t hold back the praise. What then would leadership in the Democrat Party argue for? Would they demand a return to the killing and holding of hostages? Of course not.
If Mr. Trump’s critics and political enemies cannot rationally argue about the economy, the border or international affairs, what’s left?
Apparently the answer is Jeffrey Epstein.
