It's well known that, like Christmas, Hannukah includes aspects borrowed, appropriated, or even "stolen" from now-dead pagan cultures.

This, of course as is the case with all modern institutions, which developed or evolved out of older or inferior ones - such as the Common Law of English speaking countries, which developed out of older systems of law and justice such as that of Pagan Rome; or Francis Bacon's modern scientific or "inductive" method, which developed out older bodies of intellectual thought, such as ancient Greek, which experienced revivals during the Renaissance and Enlightenment).
Therefore, trying to explain this to idiots isn't worth it - if they're merely repeating some nonsense they read on the low-information parts of the web - or lack even basic knowledge of history or legal philosophy (such as how claims of "plagiarism" or appropriation actually work or are recognized in courts of law). Much as said idiots typically have no clue what "pagan" even is or means to begin with outside of superstitious fantasies and urban legends (e.x. If one labels "ancient greece" as a "pagan" culture, then likewise, ancient Egypt is also "pagan" by similar definition, but beyond that descriptor, they are as different as British people and Chinese people).

But while both Hanukkah and Christmas share the benefit of having evolved out of, and improved on inferior and comparatively degenerate uncivilized or pagan concepts; that is where the similarities differ, with it being clear that Christmas is the superior holiday, and Hanukkah being the inferior, decrepit, and degenerate one.
(Many reasons for this can be postulated (such as Hanukkah having celebrated violent and primitive conflict against pagan Greece; while Christmas celebrating the superior victory of Christ over his opposes via words rather than weapons; the pen being mightier than the sword - or Hanukkah having remained a small holiday celebrated only by the Jewish cult; with Christmas becoming an international and global holiday with federal recognition due to the superior spread of the Christian religion in Western Europe and Abroad); however such a topic is opening quite a large can of worms, so I must continue to reflect on the reasons why Christmas is naturally superior.
