This is one of my big issues... there is no way you could ever be considered a liberal if you support the death penalty...

It is one of the most ineffective tools ever. I actually wrote my undergraduate thesis on the abolition of capital punishment :p

how the hell can it be ineffective? once the scumbag is dead, they are no longer capable of committing a heinous crime? seems like it works perfectly to me.

Who still wouldn't commit any crimes. Now that's effective! Just wait until we stick a few psychics in a tank and get you BEFORE you commit the crime! :D

(Disclaimer: This should in no way be taken as an endorsement of capital punishment. I believe you err on the side of life, yes that does include abortion but I do not endorse forcing women to term either, and without a perfect system such "punishment" should be uniformly avoided.)
