QUESTION: If (and this is a big if) there was an actual emergency at the southern border, why was it not addressed for the TWO YEARS that Republicans held all three branches of government?

ANSWER: Prior to the recent midterms, only 1 in 4 Republicans actually supported the wall. In other words, there was not enough Republican support to get border wall funding through the appropriations process.

Congress has expressly refused to fully fund his wall request.

It is clearly unconstitutional for him to now fund it.

He is a tyrant.

It came from the realization that fear is a great way to manipulate a lot of people. They seized on that realization and ran with it. It worked better than they could believe and on a certain low info group of scared Americans, it still works. Read the posts to find the scaredy cats.

You are correct. Roger Stone understands this very well.
 
You have to add that Trump wandered aimlessly in that speech showing he is not well. He was so embarrassing that I was hoping he would just stop. Trump is senile or suffering Alzheimer's. He essentially says I will believe what I want and rule that way. Yes this emergency was proven by Trump saying Abe wanted him to get the Nobel Peace Prize. Sure Daffy, that happened. I think Daffy knows what is coming his way from Mueller and house investigations.,

In 1976, Congress passed the National Emergencies Act, which permits the president to pronounce a national emergency when he considers it appropriate. The act offers no specific definition of “emergency” and allows a president to declare one entirely at his or her discretion.
