What makes this the biggest foreign policy issue in a long time? I suppose your idea of a 'long time' should be defined. Because if by 'long time' you mean something similar to 'its been a long time since I was with Dolly' then we can understand you mean 10 minutes and therefore you would be correct. If by 'long time' you mean the number of years since you started banging sheep, then you are talking at least 50 years in which case you are incorrect.
 
We had Ukrainians living in our flat, and I was brought up on Stalin's famine and the various suffering of that people, and in my teens others taught me to admire the Anarchists doing battle there after World War 1. Just as the American bully-boys reacted to the liberation of Cuba, however, the Russians are going to react to 'the West' and their Nazi sympathisers in Kiev overthrowing the elected government by a coup: it is in 'their sphere of interest' and that is the way the world works. If the Scots and we ever get shot of the strutting London Government, we'll still have to play along with their fantasies because the buggers are there. Beware, Americans, the desire to rule the world: nobody has managed it so far, and it always loses friends VERY fast.

Its the biggest foreign policy issue since Bush launched a pre-emptied attack on Iraq.
