Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Wednesday the Senate will consider a stopgap measure to continue funding the government and avert a shutdown later this week – but it won’t include President Trump’s desired $5 billion for border wall funding because of the “reality of our political moment.”

“Later this morning, we’ll introduce a continuing resolution that will ensure continuous funding for the federal government,” McConnell, R-Ky., said on the Senate floor. “The measure will provide the resources necessary to continue normal operations through February 8th.”

I've been thinking about the wall more. I never thought it was worth while. But lately I am beginning to think maybe we should spend the money and go ahead and put it up. Naturally, the original proposal was estimated at $25 billion to do a proper wall. And I think we should go ahead and spend the money on it under the following conditions:

1. We raise taxes, and tax the rich enough to pay for it.

2. We also raise taxes enough to pay for full Medicare for all, tuition-paid college for all who can maintain good grades, improve our infrastructure, and we re-enter the Paris Climate accord and take all possible measures to reduce emissions.

3. The tax hike also includes enough to eliminate the deficit, thus balancing the budget.

Tax the rich and the corporations enough to do all that, and I will accept a $25 billion wall.

I do not believe Trump ever intended to build a wall. It is becoming obvious he was just stringing along his faithful. It will be interesting to see how long he can obviously lie, and they still remain faithful.

I believe as long as he lives they will support him, just look at the ridiculous arguments they use on here in his defense.
