Then and now

“The President bears responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on Congress by mob rioters” - Kevin McCarthy.

“President Trump is responsible for provoking the events of the day” - Mitch McConnell.

“The President needs to understand that his actions were the problem and not the solution” - Lindsay Graham.

“The President’s language and rhetoric crossed a line, it was reckless” - Ted Cruz.

That was then. Now, to have any chance of a career in the GOP, they have to keep quiet, or pretend to believe that the election was stolen and the Capitol attackers were either:
(a) nothing to do with Trump
or
(b) champions of democracy.

The American way, never challenged in modern times, depended on consent from the losers for the sake of the country. On January 6 1961, following a presidential election in which there was credible evidence of vote-rigging, the defeated candidate and outgoing vice president, Richard Nixon, formally certified the result. On January 6 2001, it fell to Al Gore as vice president to rule out objections brought by Democrats to the election he had just lost.

Now all is changed, changed utterly! He Who Can Never Lose has showed up.

The GOP is a criminal party. They are enemies of the US Constitution.

“The President bears responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on Congress by mob rioters” - Kevin McCarthy.
He doesn't.
“President Trump is responsible for provoking the events of the day” - Mitch McConnell.
He didn't.
“The President needs to understand that his actions were the problem and not the solution” - Lindsay Graham.
What actions?
“The President’s language and rhetoric crossed a line, it was reckless” - Ted Cruz.
Vague TDS.
That was then.
No, it wasn't.
Now, to have any chance of a career in the GOP, they have to keep quiet, or pretend to believe that the election was stolen
There was no election. The election faulted due to election fraud by Democrats.
and the Capitol attackers were either:
(a) nothing to do with Trump
The didn't.
or
(b) champions of democracy.
There is no democracy. The United States was never a democracy.
The American way, never challenged in modern times,
Correct. This is the first time a silent coup (by Democrats!) has been successful (so far). We'll see how long the Democrats can keep it up.
depended on consent from the losers for the sake of the country.
Losers of what? You can't lose what never took place.

False equivalence fallacies.

Lose what? There was no election in 2020.
