Third Parties and the Democratic Wolves

The DNC only started caring about the environment after Green Party Ralph Nader cost Gore the election, and they needed to steal those voters back and put their foot on the neck of GPUS that is winning state and local races in California and the PNW over democrats.

The DNC only "evolved" on LGBT issues after the LGBT community built a movement to be stolen.

The DNC only cares about illegal immigrants now that Trump is POTUS, not so much when they actually controlled everything.

The DNC isn't the opposition party. They are the the waiting for their next turn at the trough party.

If you want things to improve, vote for someone other than either of them. The DNC isn't the resistance, you are.

Vote libertarian. vote green. vote independent. break the cycle of the false choice narrative.

It would be nice if there really was an alternative to the Red Team/Blue Team.

Actually, Trump is a Third Party, if you think about it.

The real problem is that American ideologies are too diverse to be covered by two parties. There should be at least five Big tents are for circuses and circuses are going out of business.

Also, multiple parties prevent majorities and force dialogue to form coalitions.

Until that happens, though, being in the game requires a binary choice. Voting other than Social Democrat or Fascist Republican is simply removing yourself from the equation.

And you don't start a viable new party at the presidential level. You gain seats in statehouses and in the House. You build on it.

But it doesn't matter anymore. America will be a full-fledged banana republic before any of this gets done. The Christian Conservative troglodytes are seeing to that, and the progressive liberals haven't been nasty enough to stop them.

There will never be a viable alternative if you don't support the alternatives we already have. If one doesn't, it is like wishing you were a billionaire while never investing a dime.

Hasn't been a realistic alternative in over a hundred years, and won't be any time soon, the system is set up to serve a two party framework

The notion is that any good idea will eventually be adopted by one of the major parties, a slow process, but as history shows it has worked that way in the past

So would you see a Parlimentary Gov't as better suiting the US?

Yeah, that seems to be the way it is playing out.

Trump is kind of a maverick though. He's upsetting the applecart so to speak.

Ain't going happen, most alternatives are largely based on single issues, and if the slightest way successful we be adopted by one of the two parties

Alternatives only work on the local level, and in some cases the State level, but beyond that they are absorbed by one of the two major parties, the Democrats are going thru that now

It's worthy of consideration, but our own system would work with multiple parties as well.

You'd have to change the Constitution, so you know that ain't happening

I don't see multiple parties working, as I noted, any good idea that shows appeal will be in time adopted by one of the major parties

I would rather work towards change within the Republican Party rather than hang my hopes that some whacked out third party will get us to the promised land.

Trump is a catalyst for that within the Republican party much like the TEA movement. Too bad the Democrats only want to demagogue and think that everything can be solved by taking more from those who earn it and win constituents by promising them something for nothing in order to remain prominent in local politics.

Perhaps that's true...it probably is...but that only means that things will never get better. We're pretty much done as a historically significant nation. We did our thing, and the next good idea will have to emerge....likely somewhere else.

They don't adopt them so much as they pervert them as has happened with the DNC and the environmental movement. The whole "We must act now to save the planet!!!!!" is a backhanded "You must vote for the Democrats now or your grandchildren will literally be toast one day" propaganda. If they were serious, they would be talking about how to contract consumption and GDP instead of promising even more consumption and an i-Phone in every pocket.

The Republican party is gone replaced by Trumpikin Party. He is running it all , bulldozing any red resistance . There are still 2parties.

Trump is nothing of the sort, the swamp was never drained, merely additionally stocked, and there is still a cabal of Goldman Sachs execs in the White House, same as it ever was. The Wall Street/donor/“job creator” class has it covered “either” way. If you are of the aristocracy, good fer you, you have representation. Otherwise you’ll be needing the illusion to believe in, and your corporate state TV to pound it into your skull.
