This gives great hope for resolving the great moral illness affecting our country.

"White evangelical protestants declined as a proportion of the U.S. population between 2006 and 2018, falling to 15% from 23%, according to analysis by the Public Religion Research Institute."

The article describes especially that those under 40 care about different things than the church leaders, such as LGBTQ rights and poverty alleviation.
Sound familiar? For Mormons, the growth rate of each of the past six years was less than any of the prior 65 years, and of those six, each year was lower than the prior. And the Mormon growth rate compared to the world population growth rate was an anaemic 0.12% higher. Those numbers for Mormons are based on their counted members, which we know includes people who stopped attending. If the 2019 Mormon numbers turn from their peak as they look like they will, then who knows where our numbers will go. Will we be characterized in articles similarly? How are leaders thinking about what disconnects may exist between them and younger members? Probably we all just need to repent!
