This former Republican governor just called Trump's election fraud claims 'piffle'

Marc Racicot has an unimpeachable resume as a conservative Republican. He was a two-term governor of Montana, chairman of the Republican National Committee and served as the chairman of President George W. Bush's 2004 reelection campaign.

Which is what makes his assertion about Donald Trump's claims about election fraud in the 2020 election that much more powerful. As Racicot writes in an op-ed in the Billings Gazette, addressed as a letter to current RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel:

"Although it is ever so neat and tidy to blame the defeat of the former president on the existence of decisive and widespread fraud, there is not even a scintilla of evidence, anywhere, to support such piffle. The former president didn't experience defeat in 2020 because of fraud. The truth is quite the opposite. The defeat of the former president is explained by the fact that legions of responsible citizens, part of that Great Middle of America, voted the way they did because they embraced the very fidelity to their country and its Constitution that the RNC claims to embrace in its Party Platform."

All of that is, of course, perfectly accurate. There isn't now -- nor has there been -- any evidence to support Trump's claims that the election was somehow rigged against him.

The cabal admitted to election fraud in a time article.

They were proud.

He is spot on.

People who embrace lies are destined for downfall when they realize their mistake.

Either that, or they might tragically die of lies, such as the ones who made the wrong choice on getting vaccinated. Many Republicans have very sadly died of lies.

It is far better to embrace the truth.

Republicans do not have a good track record of realizing their mistakes in embracing lies.

Remember the WMDs?

That was another big Republican lie. Going into Iraq was a mistake. Denying that was another big Republican lie.

And as intently as Republicans supported those lies, there was never a moment when the Republican Party marked the occasion of admitting those mistakes and embracing the truth. It happened gradually. One by one, each person who decided to admit the mistake did so in his or her own way. Some did so publicly, others did so privately.

That's why we don't hear many Republicans still trying to argue for those lies any more, or trying to remind us how right they were back then.

Because they were wrong.

And they are wrong on the 2020 election. But they will never collectively all admit it at once. Not gonna happen.

Those big lies, they die slow.

A lot of Republicans have this big ego thing where they cannot admit it when they are wrong. They cling to mistakes far too long. It really hurts them.

Racicot hit this one out of the ballpark. Trump did not lose because of fraud. He lost because a vast majority of Americans realized that ANYONE was better a better choice. And the ones who did not realize that...the Trump faithful...just are morons.
