What a beautiful building, inside and out. It's been on the National Register of Historic Places for 35 years. Why can't these people get their acts together and restore it?

This is actually one of the best maintained buildings in Detroit. This is upper crust for that shitbox.

More than any other building, save possibly the RENCEN, the train station represents Detroit. And as someone who's been inside, the pictures do it no justice. The ENTIRE floor of the building is marble or granite. Limestone pillars through out. Solid oak doors and other wooden fixtures. Copper everywhere. It will NEVER be torn down. It will also never be restored. There was talk of it becomming a police station, but that's not going to happen. It won't be restored because it would cost far too much.

On the other hand though, I've seen people doing work to it for the past few months. Might be a volunteer project.
