"To counter China"

Panama, Greenland, Venezuela—these countries have no special relationship with China.

Frankly, that's the case. In most cases, it's just Chinese companies acquiring a port, steel mill, mine, or building a railway. These are just ordinary business transactions.

Using China as a pretext is far too easy for the US. For example, the Canadian Prime Minister is visiting China next week. Now is a perfect opportunity for the US to immediately arrest the Canadian Prime Minister, because you can accuse him of seeking diplomatic relations with an enemy of the US.

That's it, isn't it too simple? It's like finding a magic bullet in an exam. It's practically cheating.

Why not think about it realistically? As a Chinese person, I don't believe China currently has the military capability to project power to South America or Greenland. The reason the US takes action against those countries is, of course, to acquire resources. It's that simple. Why do the usually straightforward Americans seem to have lost that quality of honesty?
