With the advent of 3D printers and the things that they're doing with them, such as being able to "print" out a exact copy of a patients heart; with the tumor or defect as part of it.
There by allowing the Surgeon to preform a practice operation, prior to preforming one on the patient.
Being able to make exact miniature copies of just about anything and also making replacement parts, that are exact to within micro measurements, and so forth.
There has been talk that if they can find a way to use living cells, they might just be able to produce living replacements of lungs, hearts, kidneys, livers, etc.
Is it possible that we are on the road to making a "replicator" as in Star Trek?
