Traded in Truck for a Plug In Hybrid

I got sick of spending $100 a month on gas, I got a "Plug In Hybrid".

This thing is awesome. I plug in at work, and then I have 20+ miles of gas free driving. I rarely go over 20 miles... but when I do, the gas motor kicks in.

When the battery stops working, the gas engine and the breaks charge the battery, and optimize its performance. If you want to accelerate the gas engine fast, the electric kicks in and you get great acceleration.
I am very excited about it...

And I sold my truck for more than I paid for it.

I got my wife a 2006 Prius, back when it was new. It now has 200,000 miles on it, and runs beautifully. You know how alt right posters claim the batteries need replacement in 5 years, well, I can promise you that after 16 years there has been no need to replace the big batter(the normal car battery sometimes needs replacement).

It is a nice car.

I hope my battery lasts as long, but even if it doesn’t, I’ll have saved money.

The battery loses capacity over time, which means shorter range with an electric car, but with a hybrid car only means a little less efficiency. You can keep them for a long time.

So far, I have purchased 0 gas. Im getting 90 MPG, as I have barely used the ICE.

Wow, that is a great deal.

As manufacturing improves, electric cars will probably become cheaper than ICE cars. They are just simpler designs. You could even add a small ICE engine to recharge the batteries, for basically the same cost as a ICE only car. At that point, we start asking why anyone would want an ICE only car.

Some of the alt right posters will deny all this, but that is what happened with trains. Diesel locomotives have given way to diesel electric locomotives, with at least the transmission being electric. Electric motors are just so much cheaper
