Donald Trump’s interim Social Security chief suggested Thursday night he will effectively turn off the agency that manages the essential safety net program for seniors and the disabled, if Elon Musk and his so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) can’t access the non-anonymized sensitive personal information and data of hundreds of millions of Americans, based on a judge’s order.

“My anti-fraud team would be DOGE affiliates. My IT staff would be DOGE affiliates,” said Lee Dudek, acting Social Security Administration (SSA) commissioner, arguing the order was too broad, according to Bloomberg News. “As it stands, I will follow it exactly and terminate access by all SSA employees to our IT systems,” he said, adding: “Really, I want to turn it off and let the courts figure out how they want to run a federal agency.”

And let just put a couple of million people out on the street with nothing to live on.
Good idea.

Judge bars Musk’s DOGE team from Social Security records in scathing ruling

Judge Ellen Lipton Hollander accused DOGE of launching a “fishing expedition” at the Social Security agency and failing to provide any reason why it needed to access vast swaths of Americans’ personal and private data.

trump has decided to ignore the courts just to see just how far he can push things. If he does this (he won't) it's pretty much a guarantee that he will be assassinated.

trump has threatened tariffs, and was sent scurrying with his tail between his legs. More recently, he threatened NYC that they MUST end the new congestion pricing tolls...or else.

That deadline just came, and he extended it another month.

trump simply cannot help himself.

Guano, you are a racist moron that is full of shit. Try and do better.

In an apparent coincidence, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Thursday talked about halting all Social Security payments as a way of rooting out fraud.

“Let’s say Social Security didn’t send out their checks this month. My mother-in-law, who’s 94, she wouldn’t call and complain. She just wouldn’t. She’d think something got messed up and she’ll get it next month,” Lutnick said on the “All-In” podcast. “A fraudster always makes the loudest noise, screaming, yelling and complaining.”

In this week's ranking of ridiculous Trump Administration comments that one would be hard to beat. The vast majority of SS beneficiaries are not enfeebled 94 years olds, but more like own parents who both paid into the program for more than 40 years and now depend on it. Should benefIts stop the protest from beneficiaries like them will be immediate, loud and clear. It will be the fraudsters, if there really are any, who will keep quiet so as not to call attention to themselves.

Have to wonder if Lutnick's stupidity wasn't purposeful, just as Kennedy with his anti-health positions was purposeful.

Let him. See if the Republicans grow a spine strong enough to impeach him.

They won't , they will do the same thing they did when he was impeached last time.
McConnell came out and said Trump DID DO what the evidence showed he did but he and several Senators were not going to take the OATH they took to be unbiased jurors seriously and did not vote to remove him from office , and they will do the same thing this time.
IF they had taken their oath seriously we wouldn't have to be dealing with Trump now.

I hope not.

If the Democrats win the House and Senate in 2026, and the way things are going, they might, then there's a good chance Trump would be impeached a record third time.

I hope they do and they stand by the oath they take not like McConnell and those other republicans that didn't have the guts to do what they swore they would do.
IF they had Trump wouldn't be a problem like he is now.

So the thread title is a lie.

Figured as much.
