It is long past time to close this unconstitutional bureaucratic failure of a department.

Trump considering executive order to shut down Department of Education: report ​

President Trump may use his executive powers to gut the Department of Education and then push for legislation to abolish it as part of his administration’s efforts to shrink the size of government, according to a report.

Trump administration officials are reportedly in talks about using an executive order to shut down nearly all of the agency’s functions, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

Under the potential executive order, certain functions written explicitly into statute would remain at the Department of Education while some programs would be moved to other agencies, according to the outlet.

The order would also call on congressional lawmakers to pass legislation that would formally dismantle the department, as an act of Congress would be required to completely eliminate it.

That's exactly why he's getting the federal government out of education.... Because he truly cares about our kids....as do we... (Our federal evaluations involved meeting with some of the most incompetent and uniformed people i've ever met... People who didn't have a clue about what was going on in our schools... and most of them didn't even like children... They were just worried about numbers...)

This allows the red states to indoctrinate the children.
 
Many public school teachers molest children, many are leftists, and American students have fared poorly in standardized tests for decades.

Since the inception of the Department of Education, our education has steadily declined. Like most federal bureaucracies, it's little more than a jobs program for leftists.
