When it comes to sanity, Sacramento is much less crazy than the place we fled from on the windy morning of November 8, 2018, the day Paradise and Magalia were largely swallowed up by fire. Both those towns on that ridge were overburdened with Trumpers, Tea Partiers, bigots, and an array of "Christians" who seemed to lack the temperament or the morals of the guy who gave their faith his name. There were a lot of churches on that ridge, a place where a lot of retirees had moved and were trying to get right with God before they died, and looking for redemption in lots of the wrong places. Or so it seemed to me. Lots of those churches were not dispensing much of a Christian message, at least not if that message is about love, compassion, and brotherhood.
Sacramento (with a sacrament embedded in its identity) is a lot more blue. Capitol cities like this one mostly don't have so many of those government-hating red folks who continue to follow Ronald Reagan's idiotic dictum that government is a bad thing and we should always try to reduce the size of any part of government that is not helping the rich get richer.
But even Sacramento has its share of Trump diehards and devotees. They are, without fail, people whose minds have been warped out of shape by decades of right wing talk from Limbaugh, Savage, Levin, O'Reilly, Prager, Erickson, Beck, Hannity, Carlson, Bongino, Shapiro, and a whole bunch of other lesser known loose nuts and cuckoos on local right wing outlets from coast to coast.
Some of those folks simply can't let go of their attachment to Trump and his world view no matter how much reality might mitigate against holding on to such benighted attitudes.
