Trump has made coffee insanely expensive

Yea, sure.

If demand is going up faster than supply the price rises, tariffs or not.

Nope, it's all Trump's fault.

You didn't point to the bird flu pandemic when egg prices rose, you laid all the blame at the feet of Biden.

We're going to use the exact same standard for Trump and coffee that you established for eggs.
No, I didn't lay it all on Biden.

Trump doesn't control the weather or the demand for coffee, Cyborg.

I do. It was another manufactured 'crisis' by Democrats.

Coffee is not a chicken or an egg, Cyborg.

Normally, the president has little effect on prices like this; he'd have to do something extraordinary to cause it to rise. Like going to war, or putting tariffs on the items.

No, President Trump has not made coffee "enormously expensive", coffee remains an affordable daily item for most Americans, with a typical cup at a cafe costing around $3-$5 and a pound of ground coffee at retail averaging about $9.

Retail coffee prices in the U.S. rose about 21% year-over-year as of August–September 2025, the largest annual jump since the 1990s.

Tariffs aren't the only factor Droughts in Brazil and Vietnam, plus broader supply disruptions from climate change, drove up global bean prices first (arabica futures hit ~$4.11/lb by November 2025, up 60% year-over-year).

Recent signals suggest the administration is open to coffee exemptions in trade deals, which could ease future pressure.

Coffee isn't a necessity, any more than a oreo cookie is. If imports dropped to zero we would actually be better off and have a healthier trade balance. Raise it to $1,000 an ounce, won't make a dimes' worth of difference to our economic well being. You junkies can switch to some other buzz.

Compared to one year ago, coffee prices are 41% higher

Coffee is pretty cheap anyway. No big deal. Especially considering half the country has no problem spending 8 bucks for a cup of Starbucks.
