Trump successfully extorts Columbia University​

This is a useful summary of the "deal,"which includes some of the earlier demands (such as violating the academic freedom rights of certain programs to design their programs and hire faculty without outside interference), as well as less outrageous requirements, like compliance with federal non-discrimination laws in hiring and admissions. This time, however, the "deal" includes the federal government opening the spigots for research funding. Given the amount at stake (not just the $400 million illegally withheld initially, but potentially more than a billion in other funding), I guess Columbia felt this was the only way out. Even Harvard, which did sue, is apparently in negotiation with the Trumpistas for a deal.
