Trump is something special

Hillary Clinton conceded the 2016 election early next day and launched no lawsuits despite winning almost 3 million votes more than Trump. President Obama cooperated fully with the incoming administration.

Compare that with what "strong man" Trump is doing. His only apparent purpose is to sow enough confusion so that when he goes, his followers believe that he really won. He's even getting them to pay for it.

The last time the result of a presidential election was in serious dispute was in 2000, when the presidency hung on a few hundred votes. The last time before that was 1876. People won or lost, but no loser has ever put on a performance like Trump’s. It is explicable only in terms of a monstrous ego and utter lack of principles. It proves, if proof were needed, that he doesn't give a **** for the good of the country, the people, or anything but himself.

As for the supposed conspiracy against him: Russian agents did target the 2016 election, despite Trump’s on-off denials, and it was the FBI's duty to investigate. Trump only became a subject in May 2017 when he fired Comey, stupidly thinking that would shut down the investigation. In short, he brought it on himself.

One president like that in a couple of centuries is more than enough.

Hopefully, this is one demagogue too many, and the US has learned a Lesson.

70 million votes, that's a lot of people.

I think it's a reaction to Global Capitalism.

When the US was Seller to the World, the working class were employed with good paying jobs ... Now, the US is Buyer to the World, and the working class is underemployed with less than a livable wage.

tRump is also a "poster boy" to the people who cannot succeed because of their own inadequacies and need to blame somebody like the Govt.

It's kind of funny (like 'odd', not 'humorous') that after a hundred years of fighting and dying for Capitalism, we are now threatened by our own success.

Good insight. When #LOSER45 talks about his success, it's always "*I* did ___," and never the message that "You can do ___ too." He seldom uses the word "we" except when making attacks and trying to divide Americans. Those pandemic briefings were a perfect example. How many more of us would still be here today if only at the beginning his message had been "WE will fight this together."

He'll soon be gone. But there remain 71M people who embraced this division. I'm not sure the UNITED States will last much longer. They remain, and look for the next messiah.

Back in the 2016 primaries, Nate Silver compared the income levels of Trump supporters and others:

As compared with most Americans, Trump’s voters are better off. The median household income of a Trump voter so far in the primaries is about $72,000 ...
... well above the national median household income of about $56,000. It’s also higher than the median income for Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders supporters, which is around $61,000 for both.

Going off on a wild tangent here, I suspect one would have found a similar profile for supporters of a certain “populist” in Germany c. 1930. (He never won a majority in a free election either.)

I have been countered with my 'Disaffected Working Class' theory with a 'Class Warfare' theory (by Cinnabar). And I think it has merit.
Roughly 50% of Americans have a Stock & Bond Portfolio that went up under Trump. Most people 'vote their pocketbook', so it makes sense that the 'Well Off' would vote for Trump just as an economic position.

In the 2016 general election there was not much difference in income in the Democratic or Republican vote.

$100,000-200,000: 47% Clinton v. 48% Trump
$200,000-250,000: 48% Clinton v. 49% Trump
$250,000 or more : 46% Clinton v. 48% Trump

Not sure how many times you idiots near to hear it how many more votes she got is irrelevant.
