Trump Learns His Lesson on Hyundai, a Little Too Late

President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that the U.S. will allow foreign companies to temporarily bring in “people of expertise” to train American workers, after which these experts would return to their home countries. “If we didn’t do this,” the president wrote on social media, “massive investment will never come.”

He may be too late. An Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid on a Hyundai-LG plant earlier this month, in which 475 workers, many of them South Korean, were detained in shackles, has already prompted South Korean businesses to suspend at least 22 projects in the U.S. cumulatively worth more than $100 billion.

There is no forethought or reasoning with this administration. Those workers were mistreated and humiliated. The Asian cultures value respect.

Amazing for Trump to have to learn this lesson this way.

I am supposing that his enabler/supporters will learn a different lesson even more severely. I hope not, because it means all Americans (and lots of others on this planet) will all learn the same lesson just as forcefully.

Agreed. Trump has delusions and pulls shit out of his ample ass. He just fucked the state Georgia with this idiotic raid and the rest of the United States is paying the price.

Now he's trying to backtrack with his TACO act, but foreign businesses no longer trust him. Americans will be paying the price for years to come.

That's the problem with egomaniacal narcissists who surround themselves with sycophants; they might suffer the wrath of the false orange god, but they will keep telling him what he wants to hear.

Reagan wasn't perfect, but he did know to surround himself with smart people and to listen to them. Same for Obama when it came to both GITMO and the Surge in Afghanistan. Trump? He listens to the voices in his head and those are the only voices he listens to.

Were they here working legally? If not, then they were lawfully detained... There should be an investigated.... How were 300 illegal immigrants all abole were able to work at the same place? Who did the "hiring" at HyundaI? They're the ones responsible and should be held accountable...

These Koreans were highly skilled professionals, treated like common criminals by Trump. They may not want to come back to USA.
They don't. Their company has pulled them and, IMO, effectively hurt the factory and the jobs of those Americans working there. It was a completely dumbass move proving, once again, that Trump is a master of shooting himself, and America, in the foot.
