He repeatedly says it is under control as more die and many more get it. What would it be like if it were not under such incredible control?

Lying does not inspire confidence.

Giving people false medical information that they know is untrue feeds hysteria.

Downplaying and denying is not a sign of leadership. And people can get spooked when they sense there is not competent and effective leadership during a crisis.
 
tRump is a certified pathological liar. Lying is all that he is capable of doing. Besides sexually assaulting women. Oh, and stealing from charitable organizations.
