CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins said on Wednesday that President Donald Trump’s dejected supporters are finally realizing that despite the president’s oft-repeated promises, they will not be getting their wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.
“He refuses to change his vocabulary,” host John King said, mocking the president’s tweets that the wall -now described as “artistically designed steel slats”- would be paid for by Mexico through Trump’s yet-to-be-approved USMCA trade deal. “Now the United States military will build the wall? No, they won’t. They can’t. They won’t and they can’t and to say to money coming from trade will is crazy.”
“USMCA has not passed Congress yet either, and that’s also not how trade deficits work,” Collins said. “That’s not going to pay for the wall.”
Trump, Collins said, was “twisting” his words “because he wants to be able to deliver on the promise” and mocked his fruitless efforts.
“I think even Ann Coulter and the biggest supporters back during the campaign will say an ‘artistically designed wall with beautiful slats’ is not what they expected when the president was chanting at rallies ‘build the wall,'” she said. “So when he’s making arguments like he did on Twitter last night or said they’re going to have barbed wire plus as the wall, that’s not the wall they were expecting. And I think the president is increasingly aware of the fact this wall is not going to be built.”https://www.rawstory.com/2018/12/tr...e-theyre-not-getting-their-wall-cnn-reporter/
