Like any presidency, Trump’s presidency had its pros and cons.
Here’s some of the pros of Trump’s presidency:
> He appointed a lot of federal judges, including three Supreme Court judges. As a result, we now have a lot of federal judges who will probably support Radical Right Republican (RRR) policies. For example: the RRR’s wars on women, the sick, the poor, the middle class, the environment, science, and truth; and the RRR’s pro-Covid and anti-democracy policies.
> His tax breaks benefited average Americans to some degree. And they benefited wealthy Americans to a GREATER degree. His tax breaks increased our national debt by 1.3 trillion dollars. (During his time in office, our national debt increased by nearly 7.8 trillion dollars.)
> The economy was doing ok under him until Covid arrived. (Note: Trump inherited a GOOD economy from Obama and Biden. Also note: His GROSS mismanagement of the Covid crisis eventually derailed our economy. This left a serious economic mess, in addition to a serious Covid mess, for Biden to clean-up.)

> Trump had VERY LITTLE aptitude for the presidency. For example:
>> Many observers said that he was “in way over his head”.
>> He had poor management skills. For example:
* After the Covid vaccines were developed, his management strategy for getting the shots into people’s arms was the “you’re on your own” strategy.
* He grossly mismanaged our Covid crisis. And as a result, many more livelihoods, and many more lives, were lost than there should have been.
>> He promised to replace Obamacare with something better and less expensive, and he said that it was going to be easy. Apparently, it wasn’t easy for HIM, because he wasn’t able to do it. After he failed to do what he said was going to be easy, he said, “Who knew healthcare was so complicated?” (Actually Trump, EVERBODY knew it; everybody but you. But it’s great that your “good brain” finally caught-up.)
> Trump lacked the mental maturity needed for the presidency. For example:
>> Many observers said that he needed adult supervision.
>> Often, he was unable to comprehend information presented to him at briefings, and he needed that information to be spoon-fed to him. (I don’t know if he needed the information in “cartoon” form or not.)
>> Often, he was unable to focus long enough to get anything done. For example: He was never able to focus long enough to fix our crumbling infrastructure; or to get Covid vaccine shots into people’s arms.
> Trump had VERY LITTLE interest in doing “presidential” work. For example:
>> He devoted very little time and effort to gain a basic understanding of the issues that faced our nation.
>> He devoted very little time and effort to prepare for meetings with foreign leaders. As a result, he was EASILY played by those leaders.
>> He preferred to spend most of his time avoiding “presidential” work. For example:
* Tweeting where he would lie, brag, whine, mock his opponents, and talk nonsense.
* Doing pep rallies where he would lie, brag, whine, mock his opponents, talk nonsense, and act like a clown.
* Doing “executive time”, where he would lie in bed watching TV and eating cheeseburgers. (I heard that the local burger shops went out of business after he left office.)
> Trump had NO respect for the institutions that make America great. For example:
>> He undermined our free press. For example, he called them “enemies of the people” for telling the truth about him. And he called the truth about him “fake news”.
>> He undermined our judicial system. For example, he appointed judges who he thought would be loyal to him, instead of our Constitution. (Maybe that was part of his master plan to steal the election from Biden.)
>> He undermined our Post Office. That is, he appointed a Postmaster General who destroyed MILLIONS of dollars worth of sorting machines; and whose goal is to make our Post Office less efficient, more expensive to use, and available to fewer people.
> Trump had NO respect for the institutions that keep America safe. For example:
>> He undermined our intelligence agencies. For example, he threw them under the bus in Helsinki, in an effort to appease Putin.
>> He undermined the EPA. He turned it into an agency to promote the degradation of the environment, instead of an agency to protect the environment.
>> He undermined the CDC. He turned it into an agency to benefit him politically, instead of an agency to protect the health of the American people.
> Trump demanded COMPLETE loyalty to him. For example:
>> He viewed our public servants, who put their loyalty to the American people first, as the “deep state”.
>> When he hired people for government positions, his only requirement for them was “loyalty to him”. As a result, he often hired people for positions that they were not qualified for, and he often hired people who used their positions to rob the American taxpayers. (Bottom line: Incompetence and dishonesty were ok, if you were loyal to him.)
>> After he lost the election to Biden, he replaced top career people at the Pentagon with people who were loyal to him. As we know, Trump put “loyalty to him” over “competence”. Question: Was the Pentagon being run by people who were so incompetent that our national security was at risk? And were we sitting ducks for military attacks from our adversaries?
> Trump had BAD judgment when dealing with Covid. For example:
>> When he learned that Covid was very dangerous and very contagious, he did NOT share that information with the American people, so that they could take appropriate action against the virus. Instead, he called Covid “fake news”, and a “Democrat hoax”, in order to deceive the American people and to benefit himself politically. (What a low life!)
>> On Covid cures:
* He suggested that shining a UV light inside the human body could be a cure for Covid. (But he didn’t say where to insert the light.)
* He suggested that injecting bleach into the human body could be a cure for Covid. (But he forgot to say to make out a will first.)
>> He thought that Covid would MAGICALLY disappear. (What a moron!)
> Trump had BAD judgment when dealing with natural disasters. For example:
>> He thought that dropping nuclear bombs on hurricanes would be a good way to stop them from reaching the US mainland. (He didn’t say how to remove the radiation from the fish before we eat them. Maybe use bleach? I hear it works for Covid.)
>> He thought that sweeping the forest floors would be a good way to prevent forest fires. (He didn’t say if we should use a push broom, or a vacuum cleaner with a LONG cord.)
>> On climate change, his strategy was the “it’s a Chinese hoax” strategy, and he promoted anti-planet policies.
> Trump had BAD judgment on domestic policy issues. For example:
>> Because of his GROSSLY incompetent response to the Covid crisis, he derailed the good economy that he inherited from Obama and Biden.
>> He was the Divider-in-Chief. For example, he promoted hatred, racism, sexism, and xenophobia.
>> He wanted to use our military to stop protests. For example, to stop the protests against the unnecessary deaths of black people.
>> He wanted to use our military to protect the Jan6 rioters, while they pillaged and destroyed government property, and while they bashed in the heads of Capitol police, as they were trying to steal the election from Biden.
> Trump had BAD judgment on foreign policy issues. For example:

>> He wanted to ABANDON our NATO allies, in order to appease Putin. (Maybe that was part of a deal for a Trump hotel in Moscow.)

>> He broke the Iran Deal (a deal that was not perfect, but was working), because he didn’t like the deal. He didn’t like the deal, because Obama made it, and he is INSANELY jealous of Obama. And he didn’t try to fix the deal, because he didn’t understand it well enough to fix it.

>> As for the “Israeli/Palestinian” situation:
* He gave up a MAJOR bargaining chip that he had for the negotiations for peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians; that is, he gave up Jerusalem.
* Bottom line: He gave away a major bargaining chip, and he got nothing in return. (And he sees himself as the “world’s greatest negotiator”. Go figure! Apparently, he learned his “negotiating skills” at Trump University.)

* He ABANDONED our allies, the Kurds in Syria, after they had played a MAJOR role in helping us to defeat our enemy in Syria. (What a LOW-life!)
* And he left the fate of the Kurds in the hands of the Turks, despite the fact that the Turks HATE Kurds. (That is PURE EVIL!)

>> As for our messy withdrawal from Afghanistan:
* It may be true that Biden made some mistakes during that withdrawal. However, the messiness started with the Doha Agreement between Trump and the Taliban, where Trump agreed to withdraw our troops from Afghanistan by certain dates. (Bottom line: Trump SURRENDERED to the Taliban.)
* Trump did not include our Afghan allies in the Doha Agreement. (Bottom line: Trump ABANDONED our Afghan allies.) Eventually, the Afghan government and the Afghan military dissolved.
* Because Biden no longer had the Afghan government and the Afghan military to rely on, our withdrawal from Afghanistan was made FAR more difficult, and FAR more dangerous, than it should have been.
* Note: Trump set a lot of booby traps for the Biden team in an effort to sabotage Biden’s presidency. Apparently, his Doha Agreement with the Taliban was one of those booby traps. That is PURE EVIL!

>> As for North Korea’s nuclear program:
* His initial “strategy” to solve that problem was to hurl personal insults at Kim. Kim’s response was to hurl personal insults back at Trump. Eventually, all of that hurling brought us to brink of nuclear war with North Korea. (They acted like two petulant children ... with nuclear bombs. These are two scary dudes!)
* Eventually, Trump and Kim met in person, and they “fell in love”. To prove his love for Kim, Trump reduced the number of our military exercises with our South Korean allies. And to prove his love for Trump, Kim continued his nuclear program. (Bottom line: The “world’s greatest dealmaker” gave a lot, but got nothing in return.) Trump was so impressed with himself that he thought that he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize.
> Trump had NO respect for our democracy, and he tried to destroy it. For example:
>> During the 2020 presidential campaign, he tried to pressure the Ukrainians to publish FAKE dirt on Biden in order to sabotage Biden’s campaign. (Trump did that during the “perfect call”.)
>> He falsely claimed that the 2020 election was stolen from him because of widespread voter fraud, despite the fact that there was ABOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE of widespread voter fraud.
>> After he lost the election to Biden:
* He conspired to subvert the Electoral College process by replacing the ACTUAL electors in the states that he lost with FAKE electors.
* He wanted use our government to seize voting machines in the states that he lost, and turn over those machines to pro-Trump conspiracy theorists who would do “whatever they wanted to do” with those machines.
*He wanted to declare martial law in order to redo the voting in the states that he lost.
>> On Jan6, he incited a violent riot at the Capitol in an effort to steal the election from Biden. (He called his effort to steal the election a “stop the steal” effort.)

One time, I heard Trump say “we have a thing called the Constitution, which I cherish”. Apparently, he cherishes the Constitution in the same way that he cherishes doormats and toilet paper.
I could list more cons, but I’m going to stop now.
As we ALL know, Trump caused a LOT of destruction to our nation during his four years in office. If he gets another four years, he will COMPLETELY destroy our nation. (That would be consistent with the book entitled “Everything Trump Touches Dies” which was written by a Republican strategist.) AND as we all know, the Radical Right Republicans will be his accomplices in this destruction.
We really need to get some pro-democracy laws passed. Maybe such laws could stop the impending destruction of our nation by Trump and the Radical Right Republicans. I hope that our nation is not sacrificed in order to avoid carve-outs to the filibuster.
