Unbreaking America: A Non-Partisan Plan To Finally End The Corruption Of Big Money...

PoliTalker

Diversity Makes Greatness
This isn't a liberal or conservative thread. This is aimed at the majority of Americans, those who identify with neither party. People are disgusted with the two major parties, and for good reason. And that is part of a bigger problem.

I have been trying to solve this big tough problem for a very long time.

Turning it over in my mind, trying to come up with a solution.

PoliTalker anti-troll thread thief disclaimer: If this thread is stolen, plagiarized, will the thief have the nerve to use the entire OP, word for word? Including this disclaimer? If you want my take on it, you'll have to post to this original PoliTalker thread. I refuse to be an enabler for online bullies, so I won't post to a stolen thread. I won't even read it. If you don't see me, PoliTalker, posting in this thread check the author. This might be a hijacked thread, not the original.

Here's the problem: There's way too much big money in government, buying off Congress. Congress could easily pass legislation to end this, but that would mean ending the system that put most of them into office and keeps them there. So they are not going to do that. Most of America actually agrees they should, but it doesn't stand a chance. The most powerful members of Congress are showered with the most money. The voters don't really get what they want. Voters rarely even get the choices they want.

How do we get around that?

Like I said, it is a tough problem. Nothing I thought of seemed like it stood a chance.

That's because I was looking for some way around Congress. And it's just not there. Not in the current political climate. But therein lies the answer.

Time holds the answer. Just as you can bring down a mighty tree with a small axe by simply taking little chops over a long period of time, that's how we can get corruption out of our government. And when we do, we will be able to solve a LOT of other problems that we can't currently solve because of the corruption.

This is bigger than the two parties. The corruption exists in both.

Basically, you do it by starting at the local level and working your way up. You pass city, county and state initiatives. The word spreads, others do the same. People are sick of the corruption. Ending it is a popular idea. When enough of the country has passed local measures, it will become so popular it will be forced to happen on the national level.

Like I said. It is going to take time.

But since nothing else holds any promise, that is exactly what we must do. It might take a very long time. Longer than some of us will live. But that is what we must do. For the good of our nation.

Our forefathers gave much to set up this country. What we have now is not what they had in mind. Now it is our turn to do what we must to save the dream, the great experiment called self-rule. The great lab experiment called the United States of America. So far, we have not lasted as long as Rome. Can what we have really endure? Is our form of government really working? Most people don't have much faith in our government. Most people don't think our government is working very well. Why not? How can we fix that? How can we have a government we are proud of? One that works for us.

If you agree, maybe it is time to do what you can to help this movement along.

Can't hurt.

The people who produced this video have a website for the movement.

Here it is:

What do you think?

Is it hopeless?

Or are you willing to help out...

Your country could use your help.

Unless you have a better idea...

Thanks, PoliTalk. "Political Bribery". That pretty much says it all.
(it's interesting that in the Beginning, only 'Property Owners' were allowed to Vote)

Mccain/Feingold was an attempt to take money out of politics. It had holes that allowed donations via creating 501cs and other organizations. That allowed the wealthy and Corps to put tons of money in and not have to reveal who was giving it.
We have to address that problem. As it is, our politicians spend half their time raising money. There are always hooks in political donations.
Public financing of elections with no outside money at all would solve the problem. You will never get that prospect aired. It is TV networks, radio networks and newspapers who make ad money in political campaigns. Election ads make billions for them. It requires a pot of over a billion to run for president. That is corrupting.

Hello Gonzomin,

Mccain/Feingold was an attempt to take money out of politics. It had holes that allowed donations via creating 501cs and other organizations. That allowed the wealthy and Corps to put tons of money in and not have to reveal who was giving it.
We have to address that problem. As it is, our politicians spend half their time raising money.

Actually, the producers of the video placed that figure at 70% of politician's time devoted to fund-raising.

THAT's ridiculous.

It's not what we elect them to do.

There are always hooks in political donations.

Can never be said enough.

Public financing of elections with no outside money at all would solve the problem. You will never get that prospect aired. It is TV networks, radio networks and newspapers who make ad money in political campaigns. Election ads make billions for them. It requires a pot of over a billion to run for president. That is corrupting.

Absolutely. Nailed it. Just follow the money. Nothing has been as good for media profits as Trump's mouth.

Hello Jack,

'Public Financing'. That would take the 'political bribery' out of the equation.

Why, that would shift the focus on who gets elected to who has got the best message, not necessarily the best funding.

Imagine that.

Imagine the possibilities of getting what the people vote for.

Anybody who watched the OP video must have their head reeling.

Did you see that graph where they talked about the likelihood of a proposed measure becoming law had absolutely nothing to do with what the voters want?

Instead, it has everything to do with what the rich and powerful want.

Check it out.

Political Corruption is totally legal in America:
