oct 23 2017 A math education professor at the University of Illinois argued in a newly published book that algebraic and geometry skills perpetuate “unearned privilege” among whites.

Rochelle Gutierrez, a professor at the University of Illinois, made the claim in a new anthology for math teachers, arguing that teachers must be aware of the “politics that mathematics brings” in society.

“On many levels, mathematics itself operates as Whiteness. Who gets credit for doing and developing mathematics, who is capable in mathematics, and who is seen as part of the mathematical community is generally viewed as White,” Gutierrez argued.

Gutierrez also worries that algebra and geometry perpetuate privilege, fretting that “curricula emphasizing terms like Pythagorean theorem and pi perpetuate a perception that mathematics was largely developed by Greeks and other Europeans."

Algebra is an Arabic name, and we use Arabic numerals.

A majority of the named stars have Arabic names.

Why? Because between 800-1200 AD the Arab world (particularly Baghdad) was a nexus of mathematics, philosophy, astronomy, and culture - that is until some imam crashed the party by calling math the devil.

All told, when you prove something in mathematics you get to name it. It's a pure intellectual meritocracy, and it is under no obligation to make sense to you - at all. In that sense, it is diametrically opposed to SJW bullshit. The very foundations of the west are under attack, and those leading the charge are armored with pseudo-intellectual rubbish like this drivel that - in some woefully wrongheaded circles - passes for perspicacious. What a time to be alive.
 
Math was easy as a subject, you just can't expect to study it the night before a test and expect to pass.
Here's how to conquer math (or most any subject).
1. Do aerobic exercise first thing in the morning. It's been proven that this stimulates neuronal synapses the rest of the day and increases memory.
2. Go to class and take notes.
3. Immediately after class go over the notes while the lecture is still fresh.
4. Work the homework problems as soon as possible while the material is still fresh..
5. If unable to work the hw seek help from the instructor during his/her office hrs. They're usually very supportive.
6. Review the hw problems night before the test and get to bed by 10:00pm.
7. Next day , after aerobic exercise/recreation, you'll make the highest grade in the class on the test.
Race is irrelevant.
Discipline is a must.

All of those require effort. How dare people expect students to study instead of simply sleeping with a book under their pillow and learning through what I refer to as educational osmosis.
