He rarely talks about Trump, he has been campaigning in small towns in Texas. Cruz hasn’t. His message is positive and addresses the concerns of Texas. Getting national attention has helped him.

While I seldom agree with you about anything, I will agree with you about Cruz. I have long suspected either he or Rubio is behind the perceived turmoil in the white house. I think a lot of these people came into his administration intending to breed discontent and debilitate Trump as GOP sour grapes that he took the nomination away from one of the fair-haired children of the party. .
I don't know what it is about Cruz that physically makes me feel queasy. His face and physical posture seems un-human, vaguely reptilian, soulless.
There is just something very nauseating and unappealing about him. It is very intangible and hard to put a finger on.
And I don't think I am the only one that has noticed how creepy Cruz looks. There Germans have called Cruz "Backpfeifengesicht", which roughly translated to English as "the face that deserves to be slapped".
