Yes, Virginia: there are benefits to Democratic control of Congress:

Bush will be stripped of his authority for “fast-track” trade deals as of tomorrow night, because Democrats refused to renew it.

Fast Track authority usurps the Senate's constitutional role in approving and consenting to trade deals. Under fast track, the senate has no voice in negotiating trade. The prez makes all the decisions, signs it, and then gets to demand a straight up or down vote (without amendments) from the senate......and they have to vote within 90 days.

As we know, Bush will negotiate bad trade deals (for american workers) with fast track authority, so this is one tool to keep him from driving the bus off the cliff.

This is a good thing. Fast Track trade deals are bad for the US and Treaties should be ratified by the Senate.

No. It just simply means putting some intrinsic value on maitaining jobs specifically for americans, so they can continue to live.
You need to consult that dictionary you claim to be so fond of. One can't put intrinsic value on anything. That's what "intrinsic" means, pipsqueak.

Maintaining jobs for Americans isn't a bad idea, so far as it goes. Unfortunately, it doesn't go very far.

And by reducing the efficiency of the market, congress reduces our living standards. Therefore, there's room for less jobs in the market. Therefore, protectionism and congress is stealing our jobs.

Eliminating an "overpaid workforce" only creates gains for the corporate owners. When you're a laid off worker, your standard of living is not increased. And it's a lie that all americans are therefore doing higher level jobs. Those jobs are being outsourced and labor is being imported specifically to do them, because, again, corporations simply don't want to pay westerners to do them. They're exploiting the differential in the spending power of the dollar between markets, and using that monetarily created difference to destroy the western middle class.
