"Health experts and elected officials are raising alarms about climbing Coronavirus cases in the U.S. over the weekend.

A Reuters tally found close to 80,000 new cases on Saturday. The day before, the U.S. hit 84,244, a single-day record.

Hospitalizations have also hit a two-month high and deaths are trending up.

Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas said he's worried his city's hospitals could soon be overwhelmed."

Hospitals have been overwhelmed in El Paso, where temporary hospitals had to be set up.

Mixed messages coming from the White House:

Trump - "We have it under control."

Meadows - "We are not going to control the pandemic."

This is ridiculous. America has been let down. We need better leadership.

A pandemic is what separates the real leaders from the fakers.

We need better leadership.

This is why we are the UNITED STATES.

For Trump to simply punt on this and let the States handle it in competition with one another for resources is dumb.

There needs to be a comprehensive national policy for dealing with the worldwide pandemic.

Actually, the best possible case would be binding UN directives.

This is a very good reason for strengthening the UN.

The UN needs to be the central government authority for the world similar to the way the Federal Government is to the States.

But of course that would make too much sense for humans to be so organized.

We have far too many people who want to pretend we are not all part of one big collective.

"With one week left in the election, President Donald Trump is perfecting his closing argument about the pandemic gripping much of the nation: Don’t worry about it.

In rally after rally, tweet after tweet, Trump is encouraging his supporters and everyone else to stop talking about the coronavirus. His key message: It’s not that big of a deal, vaccines are on the way and if people get sick, most of them will survive it just as Trump and his family did. "

As coronavirus cases surge, Trump holds more rallies

No, Donald!

We don't want 'most' to survive.

We want as many as possible.

These are people's lives we are talking about, not numbers.

"Shares skidded in Asia on Tuesday after surging coronavirus cases and waning hopes for U.S. economic stimulus gave Wall Street its worst day in a month.

Stock benchmarks fell in Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Sydney. Shares were flat in South Korea, where economic growth data were slightly better than expected.

Overnight, the S&P 500 fell 1.9%, deepening its losses from last week. Stocks of companies worst hit by the pandemic logged some of the biggest losses. Cruise lines, airlines and energy stocks tumbled in tandem with crude oil prices."

"SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A surge of coronavirus cases in Wisconsin and the Dakotas is forcing a scramble for hospital beds and raising political tensions, as the Upper Midwest and Plains emerge as one of the nation’s most troubling hot spots."

South Dakota. That rings a bell. Isn't Sturgis in South Dakota?

Source: "AP"; Bringer to you of every justification for bullshit military conflict everywhere forever!

AP IS the MIC.

COVID COVID COVID is the big story in the news because it is a matter of life and death.

Guess what, Donald.

The world does not revolve around YOU!

"The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota in mid-August may have directly led to a spike in cases of Covid-19 across five states.

More than 330 coronavirus cases and one death were directly linked to the rally as of mid-September, according to a Washington Post survey of health departments in 23 states that provided information.

That number likely represents just the tip of the iceberg, according to experts.

Contact tracing often doesn’t capture the source of infection, and asymptomatic spread goes unnoticed.

Within weeks of the Sturgis rally, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, Minnesota, and Montana were leading the surge in new coronavirus cases."

Big surge in the Midwest now..
