For all of you folks out there that pay taxes, I want to be the first to say thank you.....

Johnson Controls, Inc. (NYSE: JCI) today announced that it has been awarded a $299 million grant by the United States Department of Energy under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to build domestic manufacturing capacity for advanced batteries for hybrid and electric vehicles. This award represents approximately half of the company's total planned investment of $600 million in domestic advanced battery manufacturing capacity and infrastructure development.

In April, Johnson Controls and its joint venture partner Saft announced that Johnson Controls-Saft was awarded incentives for $148.5 million from the State of Michigan for the establishment of a U.S. manufacturing facility for lithium-ion cells and complete hybrid battery systems in Holland, Michigan.

I pledge to spend my share wisely.....

I support nuclear energy just as much as the next guy, but it doesn't solve the problem of energizing cars.

Wow, research into hybrid vehicles, what incredibly wasteful spending.

I'm not saying it's wasteful....I hope all my tenants get jobs there....I hope my clients get work helping remodel the facility.....I hope they all go shopping in my neighborhood's stores.....I'm just trying to be grateful.....$600mill being spent in a town of around 35k people is good news......couldn't have done it without ya'.....

yes, spending that when the research is finished and a workable hybrid car comes on the market, it will be twice as much as a current gas fueled vehicle and nobody will be able to buy one, but hold on here, I guess that just means that we'll have to do another cash for clunkers program, coupled with a law that adds a 500% tax per mile on fuel driven cars, so we can force people to go nearly bankrupt just to have a 'green' vehicle. I guess that also means we'll have people living as nature actually intended.....in tents. no more wasted space on big beautiful homes.

hooray for the environment,
