Watergate is Trump's Blueprint

It was always a ridiculous comparison. That said, they may both end up being historic---but for entirely different reasons.

Watergate brought down a president and Russia Gate may well bring down a party.
 
It was widely thought at the time that Watergate would destroy the republican party forever.
But because republican congressmen came forward and did the right thing in the impeachment proceedings the party was only destroyed for a few years.

Cheer up Darthy the GOP still has a chance to do the right thing...

Dude, you can't manufacture Impeachment out of whole cloth. Well, you could, but that's political suicide for your party.

They didn't need to struggle to find evidence against Nixon but they have been trying, for months and months and really hard, to find something/anything to impeach Trump with.

And they can't. What's that tell you?

Did Nixon 'hope' they would resolve the issue lol?

They do have the deck stacked against Trump though, I'll give you that. Mueller and Comey are friends. Mueller has brought on Clinton donors and at least one guy who has a history of interpreting obstruction laws very broadly. So it's The DC Swamp at its very best.

Will you concede they had nothing when they come up empty?

The CEO of the company I worked for once came to me and said " I hope you aren't planning on hiring anyone from one of our rival companies"...
He knew what he meant and I did too...
It's a not so subtle way people in power let their desires be known, and make a quiet threat, to those working for them...
The words "I hope" carries much more weight in that context than it would among co-workers...
Everyone understands this.
Mueller too.

They will not "come up empty...

Comey screwed the pooch when he didn't report Trump for obstruction.

Obstruction is like pregnancy---it's either there or it isn't. Any good defense lawyer [Trump would have one or two lol] would shred him on the witness the stand. Mueller knows this, so the charge would be pointless.

And that's assuming Mueller 'sees' obstruction.

Because he didn't say so in open session? LOL

Mueller will "see" what is there ...he is a smart cookie and his recommendations will reflect what anyone can see.
Trump can't get good legal counsel. Word is out that he never pays them. That is why he has had to settle for Kasowitz ,shyster extraordinaire ...

All this waiting, waiting waiting lol. If Trump obstructed justice, charge him already. If he colluded with Russians, charge him. Hell, charge Flynn for that matter.

Since Mueller is supposed to be investigating Trump and Russian collusion and Trump wad never under investigation per Comey then there is no need for Mueller. Comey admitted this is a witch hunt.

The FBI is currently investigating Trump's personal involvement in the collusion...
He will be impeached for obstruction...The collusion findings will just turn the American people who may have been supporting him, against him...
Popular opinion tuned against Nixon when he was found to be behind the break-in as well as the cover-up.
When the people turn unanimously, congress acts.
