Trump promotes article urging him to run as third-party candidate if GOP dumps him
Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that he would run as a third-party candidate if the Republican Party does not make him its 2024 presidential nominee. He concedes that running as a third-party candidate in 2024 would likely also hand Democrats the White House, but suggests it would be worth it to teach the Republican Party a lesson about defying its base. "I have no intention of supporting a Republican Party that manifestly contravenes the desires of its voters".

Trump threatens to burn down the GOP
https://nypost.com/2022/11/21/trump-threatens-to-burn-down-the-gop-its-time-to-move-on/
It is painfully clear from his track record in both the 2020 election and the 2022 midterms that Donald Trump is neither capable of forging this winning coalition nor delivering the decisive and durable victory required. Indeed, among the current crop of potential nominees, Trump is the person least able to unite the party and the one most likely to lose the general election.

The threat is simple: Unless the rest of the party goes along with me, I will burn the whole house down by leading “my people” out of the GOP. "My people" being a group that is probably no larger than a quarter of the GOP, but which allows Trump to use it as leverage to extort and bully the rest of the party into submission.

Trump’s willingness to destroy the party if he does not get his way is not based on principle, but on his own supreme narcissism. His egoism makes him unable to think of a political party as anything but an extension of himself — a cult of personality.

I guess it's not too soon for the right to start talking about how they are going to win it all in 2028?

This is what you get when you back-up and follow a narcissistic raving lunatic who only cares for himself. Anyone with any commonsense should be able to plainly see that Trump has got a long history of throwing people under the bus when they're no longer useful to him, and that also includes the GOP.

Of course he doesn't, anymore than he gives a shit about this country. This says it all, from your quote: ""I have no intention of supporting a Republican Party that manifestly contravenes the desires of its voters"." What he really means is HIS voters, not (R) voters at large.

I hope he does run as his own thing!

I guess the right wants to stay away from this thread knowing their Velveeta man just fucked the right for at least one more election.;)

Trump was never a Republican. He was using them. He has no loyalty or respect for anything. He does not care if he destroys them.

IMO, this will hasten #45's trip to self-destruction.

Well, Donald Trump running as an independent nay have some competition all his very own. As, I believe that Tulsi Gabbard will also be running as an Independent.

And now that Tulsi has been flirting with the Republicans on Fox News, and is seen as some kind of Idol or hero now to their audience, it is not certain that Donald would even win a primary!

If Tulsi does run, she would definitely be more appealing to the Republicans that want to leave Donnie in the dust for losing the last 3 elections for them.

So Tulsi could do more harm to the Republicans than the Democrats, as a 3rd party entry, than Donald Trump!

Just sayin'!

"I have no intention of supporting a Republican Party that manifestly contravenes the desires of its voters".

Trump is already starting the "it was rigged" routine. If the desire of Republican voters is to choose him as their nominee, he will win the majority of delegates in the primaries.

He is suggesting, like he did in 2016, that the party has the power to take the nomination away from the person winning a majority of delegates.
