Trump appointee demanded ‘herd immunity’ strategy, emails reveal

Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.), who chairs the coronavirus subcommittee, said in a statement that the documents "show a pernicious pattern of political interference by Administration officials."

"As the virus spread through the country, these officials callously wrote, 'who cares' and 'we want them infected,'" Clyburn added. "They privately admitted they ‘always knew’ the President’s policies would cause a ‘rise’ in cases, and they plotted to blame the spread of the virus on career scientists."

you have turd immunity.

It's really like something from a dystopian novel.

This should be a top story. The fact that it's not front page on every outlet really speaks to how accustomed we have gotten to this admin's outrageousness.

i wonder if they did the math connected to 60% or so having been infected as it relates to the number of deaths? and no one knows for sure how it affects everybody in a certain age bracket, or what unknown factors of each person make it more likely if they do get infected to have serious, permanent damage, if not death. and somebody actually advocates this, for real? somebody other than trump?

If it weren't for Jim Clyburn having a gerrymandered majority minority district, he'd be lucky to get into the Capitol to shine shoes. No one gives a fuck what that POS says.

I bet not one person commenting on this story even read the whole thing. You all should.

Wow. It's actually worse when you read it.

So we "use them to develop herd." That's as cold and calculating as it gets.

And it's just bad science. If we really did try to develop herd immunity, at least a million would have needed to die - probably more. Beyond that, with immunity not lasting that long, it would still probably never work.

I could tell when the admin switched to a "herd" approach just by how conservatives started posting here.

I guess you missed these parts:

"The health department has worked to distance itself from Alexander since his mid-September departure, and several Trump appointees said that Alexander was often isolated during his roughly six-month stint advising department officials."
"“His rants had zero impact on policy and communications,” a senior administration official insisted. “Caputo enabled him to opine, but people pushed back and it even got to a point where Caputo told him to stop sending the emails.”
"In a statement, an HHS spokesperson said that Alexander’s demands for herd immunity “absolutely did not” shape department strategy.

“Dr. Paul Alexander previously served as a temporary Senior Policy Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs and is no longer employed at the Department,” the spokesperson said.

Alexander did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Caputo, who took medical leave the same day that Alexander left the department, has referred previous inquiries to HHS." etc, etc.

Even left wing media puts some partial truth in their reporting. They just know most Democrats are going to go for the headline and nothing else.

The Trump Administration Goes All In On Herd Immunitywww.forbes.com › sites › joshuacohen › 2020/10/10
Oct 10, 2020 — Secretary Azar testified before Congress that “herd immunity is not the strategy of the U.S. government.” Yet, frequently the Trump Administration’s rhetoric tells a different story; for example, Trump’s statement last month that “herd mentality,” presumably referencing herd immunity, would protect against coronavirus.

The Administration’s actions on the ground belie its claims of not advancing a herd immunity policy. Adding Scott Atlas to the White House Coronavirus Task Force in August reinforced the idea that changes in policy direction were imminent. Atlas is a herd immunity advocate, and his ideas have gained traction in the White House, where he’s advising the President.

It's clear you have no clue how that district came to be a gerrymandered majority minority 60%+ black.

The Justice Department, until 2013, as part of a law passed by Congress in 1982, had to preapprove any voting changes in Southern states, insisted those states draw black majority district wherever possible to make those districts "electable", generally defined as 60 - 65% black. You are correct that the state legislature does draw them. What you don't have a clue about is that district was done that way 30 years ago when DEMOCRATS has control of both houses of the SC legislature. The DEMOCRAT controlled legislature in SC in 1992 had already agreed to draw a majority minority black district before getting census data.

The quotes I posted were directly from the OPS link. Obviously something you did not read for one. I am certain those references you are trying to make ( to stupid to even know how to link a source) say about the same thing in them. Once again, they know dumb fuck Democrats like yourself only get as far as the headlines. That is about as far as their education allows.
