Well,......looks like BIG T is going to end up with a lot of Ukraines rare Earth minerals,...gas/oil too.

It is not at all clear that there will be any Ukraine...and it is not at all clear that Ukraine rare earths have much value....and Russia already has about half the rare earths and keeps driving as the West refuses to capitulate.

A great idea by a great president Trump.

We get back some…perhaps all of the billions given to Ukraine.

They are called rare earth minerals because they are rare…and valuable.

Ukraine is also home to a third of all European lithium deposits, the key component in current batteries. Other elements found in Ukraine include beryllium and uranium, which are both crucial for nuclear weapons and reactors. Deposits of copper, lead, zinc, silver, nickel, cobalt and manganese are also significant

I just listened to Alexander Mercouris say that the Russians have been very open to Poland taking Western Ukraine.....areas that are historically Polish....given proper agreements with Russia on what military gear would be placed there.

Rare Earths are not rare....what is a problem is finding them in the proper formations and in enough quantity to be worth mining.

Then they must be processed....infrastructure that is not currently in Ukraine....and would take years to build.

And it is dirty work......not great for a long time major ag center.

This might be a lot of yap over nothing.

“Rare Earths are not rare....what is a problem is finding them in the proper formations and in enough quantity to be worth mining.”

If there is a problem finding them in the proper formations and in enough quality to be worth mining…I would think that they are valuable…and rare.

One you did not have the courtesy to shoot me a quote notice.

Two this makes no sense.....my entire point is that the claimed value of rare earths in the Rump of Ukraine is nearly completely undocumented at this point...It is a claim....a rather dubious claim.

Plus we dont know if Ukraine will exist even as a rump.

Ukraine has some of the world's largest deposits of graphite, lithium, titanium, beryllium and uranium, all of which are classed by the US as critical minerals

Says that the rare earths are not commercially viable, and that the valuable stuff has mostly already been taken by Russia:

Still going on...cant give a time stamp.

For those who want to learn on the subject this is good:

Ukraine doesn't have any rare earth metals, and the strategic minerals it does have are not worth trillions of dollars

And are in the main now Russian.....and will stay Russian.

Ukraine’s deposits have also not undergone significant exploration or development — processes that take years even under stable jurisdictions. There is also a lack of data on the quality of the reserves, which is crucial information for investors before committing millions to new mines. A large proportion of deposits lie in territory controlled by Russian forces.Exploiting Ukraine’s critical minerals would require vast investments. The fund could, in theory, finance some of those, but it will start from zero unless the US actually puts money in upfront. It would also take years for projects to yield taxable operating profits.

Alexander Mercouris, who has a lot of experience with contracts, says this is the most bizarre thing he has ever seen...completely unworkable on several levels.....basically smoke and mirrors.

But you gotta wonder what the people of Ukraine think of this, after something like 1.2 million have died so far in America and Europe's proxy war against Russia....which has been a catastrophic failure....one of the most profound military blunders in all of history.

Actually creates a connection between the US and Ukraine incentivizing the US to protect and work with Ukraine. Just a few days ago I pointed out that this is how Trump "negotiates" in the press when he was talking "dictator" about Zelenskyy... That he would change his tune as soon as Zelenskyy changed his, and now he says, "I can't believe I said that." at a presser...

You have to know that Putin wanted those rare earth elements, and much of them are in the "disputed zone"... This incentivizes the US to negotiate an end that includes Ukraine being in charge of the zones with the rare earth elements...

Losers do not dictate terms.

Ukraine produced 12% of the worlds fertilizer.

Even before the SMO Ukraine did not produce enough even for itself.....Belarus and Russia however ship massive amounts around the globe.

Prior to Russia’s invasion, Ukraine produced enough nitrogenous fertilizer to meet over 70 percent of domestic demand.
