I've been thinking about this. Plenty of reasons, don't ask. LOL.

Your average American Joe can be President, correct?

Seems the only rich and elite are able to become upper level politicians. I don't know but I found it interesting. The wealthy seems to still rule.

So who knows? Perhaps you can give some insights in this? It's curious that's all.

You need to check out Harry S. Motherfuckin' Truman, baby.

Imo he was the best president before Trump.

Kennedy was a good president, too. They always had money though, and a proclivity to take the pussy.

Still, Kennedy and Truman were good presidents, Nixon and Ford were, too.

Truman gave zero fucks about making money from being president. He was all business and trying to do the best he could. You cannot ask for more than that.

After being president, he went back to his private life and wanted to be left alone.
Truman was a good man, and a good president.

If you don't have name recognition like TV Trump, it takes at least a billion dollars to become president, and you pretty much have to be a psychopath to start. We can change the president but we can't change the policies. That's determined by the oligarchs who tell the president what to do.
 
No, all presidents were not rich. It is not necessary to be rich to run for president since they don't usually spend their own money on the election, but Americans like successful people to be their leader (like ourselves, only better).

Still begs the question - does it require wealth to become a high level politician, especially being a President or VP? I see nothing about that in the Constitution.
 
Grant wrote his autobiography while he was dying to help support his family after he was gone. Truman was not wealthy. Modern presidents have been wealthy.
Public financing of elections would result in more average people getting elected. The wealthy will do everything they can to prevent that from happening. They have controlled it to put themselves and people like them in power.

Public financing is a good idea, but not applicable in our society, there is too much money to be made for secondary industries to not corrupt public financing, and then it evolves into what is public financing, what’s allowed, what’s not allowed, etc.. A candidate with the low scruples like the one we just had would manipulate it to victory

I'm more for the people than any political parties. IMO, they've both been fucking us for years.
