It is a crime for a federally licensed dealer to sell a gun without doing a background check. This applies to all dealers, including at retail stores (like Walmart), gun shows, flea markets, or anywhere else.

It is a federal felony to sell, trade, give, lend, rent, or transfer a gun to a person you know or should have known is not legally allowed to own, purchase, or possess a firearm. The penalty for selling a gun to a person who is a criminal, mentally ill, mentally incompetent, or an alcohol or drug abuser is a 10-year federal felony.


If only they add liberals and muslims to the list.

What Biden (supposedly) said was that there wasn't the manpower to "don’t have the time or manpower to prosecute everybody who lies on a form, that checks a wrong box, that answers a question inaccurately."

Which is true. Do you expect the federal government to do everything? Much of that should be in the hands of the seller, so once again, it's apparent our current system isn't working.

Pay attention to what? Please explain how the gun shop owner would know they were lying??

He runs the sale thru the system because he doesn't have some mystical ability to tell whether someone is lying. And, unlike some, he doesn't assume anyone buying a gun is dangerous criminal.

the law was set up to provide for the system doing exactly that. if the system is failing to do it's job, then scrap it. stop putting the responsibility of government on the shoulders of people.

Obviously we need to crack down on gun dealers, improve and streamline the background process, and institute better reporting of mental cases. Like you.
 
the whole point is there are gaps all over these restrictions and the NRA fights to keep those gaps open.
