I thought of Eddie Murphy yesterday when I FINALLY received my The Very Best of Little Richard CD in the mail after ordering it over a month ago. This music triggered a memory of one of my favorite Eddie Murphy moments on SNL when he did his hilarious Little Richard Simmons character. Which was a combination of his impressions of Little Richard and Richard Simmons, the fitness guru who became famous in the 1980's. Other SNL moments or characters that made me laugh were/are his Mr. Rogers parody, Mister Robinson, his quite humorous Gumby, and his impression of James Brown "Gettin' In The Hot Tub". Also his impression of the Little Rascals character Buckwheat, which he called "Bo-Wheat". All classic comedy. His movie roles I've liked include Billy Ray Valentine in Trading Places, Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop, Reggie in 48 Hours, and Dr. Dolittle. Eddie is a true American treasure.
