What car should I get?

I can either get a Z71 pickup truck from Chevy or a Ford Escort sports car. Both models are from the mid-90's, and they each are worth about 3500 dollars.

I mean, I may get laid more in the Z71, but I'm not exactly certain I would want to get laid by the girls I'd get with the Z71.
 
It depends in part on what sort of roads you're going to be driving on, and whether you're going to be doing much hauling. Does the Z71 have optional 4WD? That might be a factor. If you have a pickup expect to be recruited every time a friend moves or wants to pick up something large from a store, etc.

On the other hand, the Escort will give you a lot better gas mileage, providing it's been well maintained. (It's a 4-cyl., right?). For each, you'll want to consider total mileage and condition. Have you choice checked out by a reliable mechanic before you commit.

The Z71 does have 4WD. I'm afraid of exactly what you said, that I'll be forced into a group a college rednecks that wants to go "Mud Ridin'" and pick up stuff. The Ford Escort is a more natural option. But honestly, I really like the feeling of being "higher" and more powerful than all the other cars around me that the really tall Z71 provides. I don't really care about gas mileage right now, as it won't really make a ton of the difference if it's 20 or 30.

The Z71 is manual, though. They're both used.
 
Well, frankly I prefer a manual transmission, but if you're not used to it it will take some practice. If you like to drive you may end up preferring that.

The overall mileage on each is important. The Ford Escort used to be a piece of crap, a long long time ago, but I remember saying in the mid 90s that I was impressed at the improvement Ford had made in this vehicle.

We're mostly a GM family, so I may be a little biased in favor of the pickup. :p Like you, though, I also prefer to ride a bit higher so that I can see all around me.

I'd still get my preferred choice checked out by a good mechanic before making a purchase. I made a mistake trusting the seller of my first car and wouldn't want someone else to undergo a similar fate.
 
You think you'd get more girls with the pick up truck? Unless they are moving or need something to be transported.

My dad was rather surprised at the cheapness of the Z71. It'd been there a long time. For a pickup of it's type and model, it is damn cheap. The Escort's price seems more likely.
 
I can also get a mini-pickup Dakota. My Grandpa has the same kind, and it's a really ridiculous amount of miles.

The Z71 is 4 wheel drive... I don't need that. I just wish I could get something taller. I'm used to driving in my dad's Dodge Ram.

The Escort, well, it is a pretty good car. Pretty much everything I could expect.

From what I've seen (I'm long past these types of personal experiences. BUT:

Years ago girls were more feminine, and Gentle creatures. These days it seems most are more rough and tumble, and would Like to drive or ride in a pickup truck. Almost every young woman I know drives a pickup or SUV. and my two major mature woman friends both drive (or drove)18 wheelers.

What part of the country are you in? I an in So Cal, and muscle trucks are plentiful, and at reasonable prices. but just an ancidote: a few monthe ago, I was thinking of gretting new wheels, I happen to like one of the lowest cost crs around (The KIA) mDollar for dollar they are good buys. Hiowever, I ran into a little 99 Dodge Omni, and Bought it (2 Grand), and I like it better than if i had gotten a new KIA.

I'm trying to turn a new leaf. I won't touch that comment or the irony with a ten foot pole. Consider it an early Chanuka gift.

Yes, getting the vote changed us. And once we started wearing pants, things got really different.

I don't know why that would upset you, it is true, and the only mature women I know who drive sedans and the like are matronly sedate women. Even the teen age girls want pickups. That certainly is nothing against them.

I think it was more Rock and Roll, and Lady Libers. They had the vote a long time before. My mother wore pants too. back during WWII

I have no quames with equality of the sexes, course it will never be equal. The Fem gender has a long head start.
 
I honestly can't figure out why women even bother with men. Men are hairy, aggressive, and very stupid. For a few thousand years there, yeah, you couldn't arouse your self with anything other than a penis unless you wanted to get splinters (UHGGGG!), but now, with the invention of the vibrator, I really don't see much use for men.

Right. And men could arouse themselves with their hands. Why would they need women?

This is a bit ridiculous, both sexes are attracted to each other, usually, there is no reason to go for the imitation.
