What is Trump?

"When fascism comes to America, it will come wrapped in the flag and waving a cross."

I'm fairly sure that Trump has no core principles, political or otherwise. The face he presents is calculated to appeal to people's basest instincts - fear of minorities, resentment, unreason - and what he evidently wants is blind devotion to the Leader.

He has the flag-wrappers and even some cross-wavers. But if he's a wannabe fascist, he doesn't have what it takes. Too many people see him as a bad joke. I believe the American system is strong enough to cope with a punk like that and spit him out.

He could still do some damage, though - how much remains to be seen. And he doesn't deserve a Nobel prize for Peace ot Twitterature either.

A few weeks ago a bartender at the local watering hole was telling me how grateful she was because Trump got rid of Obamacare (so she no long had to pay penalties for not having insurance) and he was bringing God back to America after Trump got rid of Him. She was very serious. Trump has a very faithful following. Scary that it is about 40% of Americans.

Characteristics of Fascism include corporate takeover of the government, with controlling the military for their benefit. Mussolini did all he could to make people distrust and hate the press. He used his power to take over the judiciary and the intelligence services. TRump does not read history. He is not using a Fascist blueprint. He is just trying to eliminate anyone who stands up to him. It just happens to be a route to Fascism, Mussolini put his family in key spots of the government. Trump does that too.
